Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compack Chair Kit - 20":
I find the original trekker (now discontinued) to be pretty good. This "improved" model, while 3.5 ounces lighter is problematic for me. I am 5'9'' and weigh 154. I also find the back too low for comfort. The ladderlock adjusters for the back slip at times. The overall comfort with a NeoAir all season is only fair. I plan to return the 2 that I got and get the discontinued Trekker that is still availabe online.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compack Chair Kit - 20":
I've had this chair for years and have hundreds of miles with it. This is designed to be used with the trail and pro-lite pads which is probably why the other reviewers erroneously described it's difficulties. It is not as robust or supportive as the standard version which I have also used but that is the trade off you make when you go light. I have sat around many campfires in mine in the last few years and it's extremely comfortable for my 5'8" 150LB frame.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compack Chair Kit - 20":
I'm a petite woman - only 5'3" and this back support was much to low even for me. I couldn't even lean back without falling backwards. I can't imagine anyone even larger feeling comfortable in this chair. Buy the non- compact version for a higher back support.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compack Chair Kit - 20":
I bought this chair kit to use with my Thermarest Neoair All-Season 20" air mattress. I was trying to keep weight down and wanted to have something to lounge around camp with. I still have an old Thermarest'r deluxe made by Thermarest that I used with my original Thermarest pad (15-20 years old). That pad isn't enough for me now that I'm older and fatter, and they probably weigh 3+ lbs. together. I was hoping that this chair kit would be close to the old Thermarest'r. I was sorely disappointed.
First the pros:
-It's really lightweight
-compact
Now the cons:
-The back is not tall enough to offer any real back support (I'm 5'11)
-Putting it together is a pain trying to get just the right amount of air in the pad. After a few tries though, you would probably know what level to get it to.
-The supports are narrower than the pad, so as you sit in it, you get 2 aluminum rods poking you in the back just below the shoulder blades.
-The buckles that hold the shape on the sides slip so when you lean back, they give and you fall backwards. (I weigh 240 lbs.)
This kit may work well if you are smaller and lighter than me, but you will have to try for yourself. I bought this specific model because it says that it works with all pads including Neoair. I guess it does "work", but it's less than ideal. Another problem with pairing it with this particular pad (All-season) is that the bottom of the pad is grippy. great for tent bottoms; not great for the backs of your legs. I only used it in my living room, but I would have serious concerns about the durability of the fabric on ground surfaces. Unfortunately, they did not have it at my REI store, so I ordered it from REI. It came quickly. I'll be returning it to the store next week.
