Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Special Buy:
I have used this bag for more than a year now and I absolutely love it. I have had several other brands and bags. This is the best one so far. It is super light and packs down to nothing. I have used it in 20 degree backpacking conditions and was never cold. I even found that the footbox was warm compared to my last bag which was a Northface Cat's Meow.
You are not going to find a better bag for this price.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Special Buy:
All in all, a great quality sleeping bag. Super light, and the 750 fill is just amazing. The only thing I would change is the shoulder width. I'm a skinny guy and it was tight. A little bit more room and I would give it five stars.

I've only used this one night (Lake Anne, North Cascades). But the night was cold and I was warm.
I woke up and found frost about 800 feet below where I camped at, but I stayed warm throughout the night.
The sleeping bag is pretty tight, but not so much as to bother me, and I think that allows it to warm up quicly and stay warm.
The hood worked great and while I'd recommend zipping slowly, the zipper didn't snag.
I did feel an occasional cold spot, but my natural tossing and turning made them go away pretty quickly.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +20 Sleeping Bag - Special Buy:
This sleeping bag is tiny. I am about 5'11", 180 lbs and I could barely zip it up. If you are skinny and want a lightweight bag, then this is for you. It is very light for its price point and packs very small. But if you aren't an extremely skinny individual than be aware of this. Just compare its dimensional specs with others, it's one of the most compact bags on the market.

I've had this bag on several trips in North Georgia, and it has made cold nights comfortable. I've used it in 15 degree weather with light snow and had no problem staying warm. I've also gotten the bottom of it wet, although in slightly warmer weather, and it still seemed to insulate, but obviously not as well as a dry one.
The drawstrings with different tabs on them makes it easy to adjust the hood and neck without being able to see them. The draft tube has plenty of down in it to block out the cold from the zipper. Once you're in this bag, you can feel the body heat being held in around you. I would buy this bag over and over again. I've had my gear stolen twice (long story) and have my third sub-kilo on the way to me right now.

I've had this bag for about 3-4 years now and I can't say enough good things about it. It's kept me warm even when the temp gets down into the high teens. The stuffed down size is simply awesome too.

Couldn't resist the price with a 20% or 30% discount for REI members. I am 6'3" and 250lbs. Had to have one arm sticking out to fit into it, but such a good deal decided to give it to my niece rather than send it back. Then I unzipped it completely and used as a simple cover--now no one is getting it. Love the hood, light weight, warmth. I've used it camping in the back of a truck several times and it's been all I've needed down to mid 30s with good pad. I plan to it put it inside an older Eddie Baur down bag when it gets colder. Love it.

Just returned from 6 day backpacking trip in the Sierras (7k-12k) elevation. My first use of the bag. Temps from 23-29f. I was very warm and comfortable. The bag was tight for me in the chest I weigh 200# and I'm 5.9, my chest is a 46. Overall I was very surprised and happy with the warmth and comfort. I recommend a protective bevy sack for rain and protection.

Alright folks, I have been using a mid-level Alps Mountaineering poly-bag for years, and finally decided to upgrade to a lighter, smaller and warmer bag at a lower price point. Whereas sometimes in my other bag I had cold feet, I have not found this to be true in the Sub-Kilo, in both backpacking the Wind Rivers of Wyoming, and up Darby Canyon in the Grand Tetons. Buy a compression sack, and it compresses down to 1/4 of my old bag.
The only con, as other comfort oriented people have mentioned, is that the interior fabric is not as comfy soft as other bags. It is to cut down on weight. If it really bothers you, then add a few ounces and buy a lightweight silk liner.
If you are used to $250+ bags, then you may not be sold, but if you are looking for a step up and try the world of down bags, take REI up on the offer.

I really like this sleeping bag. I was really worried that it wouldn't be warm enough but it has been quite toasty for my Minnesotan camping adventures. My favorite feature is actually how small it packs. It easily fits in a small compression sack (sea to summit for me) and still allowed room for clothes, etc. I would recommend it!
