I bought these for the REI Adventures Havasu Falls/Grand Canyon hiking trip. The cushioning is better than most running shoes I have bought, yet the sole is solid and durable enough that rocks and uneven surfaces were easy to manage. I am prone to blisters, but have not had a single area rub due to the large toe box and lacing system. These shoes are the perfect balance of comfort and function. The only slight con I would mention is that they look a bit bulky (but don't feel it). Great overall!
