            I got these, so I could feel comfortable when running outdoors; as the temperature drops, unfortunately so does my determination to maintain my running regimen. So being somewhat of a wuse, I need every incentive I can muster to cheer me on.

            This pair of gloves, keeps my fingers toasty and warm, with the added mitten construct. They are very adaptable and very practical. When not in use, you can simply tuck the mitten sleeve in a discreet pocket on dorsal hand.

            The thumb pads are, well designed, efficient enough to use with tablets and cellphones. Although, my one quibble, would be, if the manufacturers could have added pads to the pointer phanlange as well. Alas, I imagine that would have added to the cost just ever so slightly. Oh well, we can't have everything ....

            I use these gloves for running on cold mornings. They do the trick when it's just above freezing. The outer shell adds just that extra layer of wind protection and heat capture.

            The thumb hole works great too for fussing with my iPhone without taking off the golve.

            My only critcism is that some of the stitching is already starting to wear and I'm not that hard on these gloves.

            Overall, I like them though and they are my first choice when I head out the door for that early morning run.

            I have owned similar neoprene gloves in the past and I quite like them for those brisk mornings around 40F.

            For a short run of 2-3 miles, they'll definitely keep you protected from the wind and cold under 40F, but for a prolonged period they actually get wet and will make you colder.

            Ideal use is at 40F to 50F, really just for warming up. You probably won't need them after 45F though.

            I like that it has a rain mitt so you don't get completely soaked hands from a downpour.

            Brooks does not make an XL size for this glove currently. Who knows what they were thinking. the L is probably true to a L size in other gloves, but my hands fit more comfortably into an XL glove. I have to return these gloves.

            I will buy them again when Brooks comes up with an XL version, or I find a similar glove by another manufacturer
