Comments about Deuter Futura Vario Pro 50 + 10 Pack:
I've owned a previous version of this pack for about three years now and I look forward to using it every trip I take. At almost 4 and a half pounds it's certainly no ultra-light pack, but the number of features its got make up for the extra weight. The Air Comfort suspension is a God-send on hot days as it really does circulate air across my back to keep me cool and comfortable. The Vario adjustment system is great too! It's really quick and simple to fine-tune the fit. The only reasons I wouldn't give it a 5 star rating are the slightly heavy weight and the fact that for the first 40 or so miles of using the pack it creaked a bit when loaded. I think after being broken in the noise has stopped completely or at least diminished to the point that I don't notice it anymore. If you're looking for a sturdy, feature filled pack that won't break the bank, definitely give this one a try!
NOTE: One feature the newer version has that mine does not is the option to panel-load from the front. I recently purchased the ACT Trail 32 (also a Deuter) and the front-loading is a great feature for accessibility. I've only used that pack for a couple trips now, but I've had no issues with the zippers--and both times I probably packed a bit more than I should have!
