Comments about Gregory Sage 35 Pack - Women's:
I am 5' 1", 110 lbs with compact torso, narrow waist and muscular shoulders, the small size fits me perfect.
I REALLY had a hard time finding a pack that met my long list of needs AND fit me. Most packs just felt awkward and didn't work with my smaller frame. If it did fit my torso/waist, then the straps rubbed my neck or the pack size wasn't right. I put the sage 35 on and suddenly everything clicked in place.
I was looking for a daypack that I could use on longer hikes and carry my SLR, possibly on overnighters where my husband carries tent/stove, but also something I could use in travel to put my SLR, lenses, and 15" macbook. I also have a long history of shoulder and neck pain, so I needed something that did a good job of transferring weight to my hips.
The other reviewer mentioned problems with the interior bladder holder, not sure if that was an older model or what, but mine has a clip on each side and a center loop for hanging various bladders all from the top. There is an opening on both sides to feed the tube and a loop to secure your nozzle on each shoulder strap so it stays tucked away.
I have used the pack on a plane with my laptop and all my SLR gear (in their own cases) and it worked great. Fits under the seat as long as you don't pack it too tall (keep in mind I have short legs). Its not great for getting the items out while you are on the plane, but really I just like to use a pack for comfort in the terminal and to keep on my breakables with my while I travel.
The hip belt pockets are great, I keep things like chapstick and a snack in one and my camera in the other. The hidden pocket I have kept my phone and passports in for travel. The rain cover is super easy to use, seconds to put on or put away.
The reasons I do not give 5 stars on this one would be the center outermost pocket needs a better closure system (loose small items can just fall out if you tip the pack on its side), and the two water bottle holders could use some design work. They aren't big enough really to hold nalgene bottles (or at least one isn't), and for my short arms, I cannot remove most water bottles out of them unless I actually remove the pack. So I end up asking my hiking partners to constantly hand me a water bottle AND to put it back.
Otherwise, this pack has worked great (and I am glad I ordered the blue one online, looks much better then the maroon they stocked in the store).

Comments about Gregory Sage 35 Pack - Women's:
First, to respond to the previous review, the roll top pocket has a wide opening if you loosen the side straps, and my backpack has two clips inside the hydration pocket to hang a bladder from. I must have tried on 25 backpacks before this one, and when I put it on (loaded up), the angels sang! For some reason, backpacks with the mesh back ventilation (like Osprey's system) aren't comfortable for me. This pack doesn't have much back ventilation, but it more than makes up for it with comfort. The shoulder straps don't rub my neck nor do the shoulder strap adjusters chafe the underside of my upper arms. The hip belt fits me perfectly and the hip belt pockets are big enough to hold a cell phone/camera. Another great thing is the dimensions of this pack fit the carry-on size requirements of the cheap European airlines! There are only two features that seem useless to me. One is the side panel loading zipper: it is very small and really doesn't add panel loading convenience so the weight it adds is wasted. I also haven't ever used the little "hidden" zipped pocket on the side of the pack. I never carry much weight, so I can only speak to this pack's comfort up to about 15#, but at that weight I can get almost complete weight transfer to my hips which means no sore shoulders even after 10+ miles on the trail. If it fits you, it is wonderful.

Comments about Gregory Sage 35 Pack - Women's:
The "unique" roll top lid creates a very tight opening, making it diffucult to get anything into the roomy top pocket. The zippered side stash pocket is deep, but also has a small, tight opening. The side mesh pockets are two different sizes. One side will easily accomodate a nalgene bottle, on the other side it will barely fit. I thought I would like the external hydration access, but it end up that it's nothing more than an overly large pocket, which allows the bladder to flop around. It doesn't have any place to hang the bladder, nor any place to secure the hose. When I loaded it up and put it on, it felt bottom heavy and sloppy.
