Bought on short notice to satisfy unexpectedly small listed airline carry-on dimensions, and the rolling component served me well. Haven't yet used the backpack, but expect to use this system as my primary bag in future for travel up to a few days.

Fantastic product! I travel often for business and pleasure, and am very happy with this luggage. Especially recommended for laptop travel.
The main bag is spacious for a 19", and the zip-off daypack is perfect for personal or business travel. I keep the main unit in my hotel and bring the daypack to the office each day. When flying I place the main unit in the overhead bin and keep the daypack with me at my seat for snacks and reading material, etc. There is a convenient front pocket for storing all your valuables when going through security. These days anything that helps reduce your hassles when going through airport security is warmly welcomed.
The laptop compartment in the daypack is flocked, though there is no designated laptop space in the main unit. The daypack zips on securely, or can also be easily slid onto the extended handle, which is a great feature when you're in a hurry, though the weight is much better balanced when the daypack is zipped on.
All of the materials and the zippers are high quality. The zippers have easy to grasp zipper pulls although the zipper that attaches the daypack could be bigger. My only major con is that the unit can be prone to tipping over if the daypack contents are heavier than the main unit (which can happen if you have a heavy laptop in the daypack). The wheels roll easily on flat surfaces or concrete and work reasonably well on gravel.
Overall this is the best luggage I have owned and Iam thoroughly satisfied. Were I to buy this product again I might opt for the 21" model over the 19".

Nothing bad to say! I need a great piece of luggage for an overnight that can carry a suit and a computer, and this does this very well!

I just used this on an international business trip that included some sightseeing. The daypack option was perfect because I was able to put my work laptop in it while flying, but then use the daypack as a backpack on the sightseeing day. It was also nice to be able to zip the daypack with laptop onto the suitcase while wheeling through the airport (I don't think it would fit overhead this way, but it looks small enough that they never questioned it at boarding), then zip the dayback off once I got on the plane and keep it under the seat while stowing the main suitcase overhead. There are very convenient pockets on the front of both the suitcase and the daypack that are perfect for travel papers or small electronics. I've used this only once so far but the construction seems sturdy. It's not clear from REI's website but this has the same dimensions as the Eagle Creek Switchback from what I could tell in the store; the main difference is you can't carry the whole thing as a backpack like you can with the Switchback. The Switchback also has clasps to hold the daypack to the main suitcase, which the TraversePro doesn't have - and because of this it is a little harder with the TraversePro to get the daypack zipped to the main suitcase when both are full, though still doable. The only negative thing I would say is the main suitcase is smaller than the max size that will fit overhead, so given the way I pack I still need a checked bag in addition to this bag for my typical 3+ day trips. It also tends to tip over when you have a laptop in the daypack. But overall this is a great product that I will get a lot of use out of.
