Comments about Keen Oregon PCT Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:

I love these boots. I work on a residential construction site, and I don't like steel toed boots, so I thought I would get some heavy duty hiking boots instead... SO glad I did. These are lightweight enough to be comfortable to wear every day and to hike in, but still have enough heft to make me feel protected. My boss has these and loves them too! Really good for wider feet.

Comments about Keen Oregon PCT Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:

I bought these boots through the REI-outlet site. I love Keen quality and fit, and own many of their styles. I like the Targhee boots and have owned them in several colors. They seem to last about a year before looking dirty and not feeling as supportive. These Oregon PCT boots are a huge upgrade over the Targhee without much upgrade in price (indeed, on sale they are equal). They are waterproof, higher on the ankle for better support, and have an upgraded footbed (made with cork in them, for a good balance of support and cushioning). I was able to wear them with zero break-in time, and they have held up in rainy conditions, keeping my feet warm and dry. These are a non-insulated model (the Keen Delta is essentially the same shoe but with insulation).

Overall, these are solid shoes that I think will last a long time. If I had to list a negative quality, it is about the lacing system - the top 3 are not eyelets but rather the hooks you wrap the laces around. I with the bottom-most one was an eyelet instead, because wrapping 3 times is annoying. Otherwise, I highly recommend this boot!

Comments about Keen Oregon PCT Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:

I got these boots for a school trip to Costa Rica, and was really banking on them to get me through the trip, and they did! They had no break in period, and were not too heavy. I used them almost everyday for our hikes through the rainforest, and they never became uncomfortable or gave blisters. They are crazy waterproof too which is good if you aren't completely submerging them in water, as the water does squish around since they are waterproof. Overall wonderful boot, I believe I will be hiking in these for years to come.

Comments about Keen Oregon PCT Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:

These boots are well made for their price range. If you have wider feet and like Keens and are looking for something that would be good to wear around the campsite, these might work for you. Unfortunately, they feel a bit too clunky and inflexible to be good for long hikes. The sole of the shoe doesn't come up too far off the ground, either, to provide the kind of support you might hope for in a good hiking boot.

Comments about Keen Oregon PCT Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:

First of all, I love Keen. I have purchased several types of boots (Merrell, Vasque, etc.) and I have always found myself coming back to Keen. Even their sandals have saved my raw feet from other bad brands on backpacking trips. These boots are amazing. It took me a day, 3 hours walking to break them in because I have wide feet, but now they fit like a glove. They are true to size and have amazing ankle and arch support. I have not been backpacking with them yet, but they seem like they can handle a heavy load and will keep me from spraining my ankle. If you can, buy this boot. You won't regret it.

Comments about Keen Oregon PCT Hiking Boots - Women's - 2011 Closeout:

I walk my dog 2-3 miles everyday on grass/wood chip/dirt trails that are wet most of the year with dew, rain, snow, etc. Therefore waterproof boots are a necessity for dry feet. That is the only point in favor of these boots. The 1st day that I wore these boots, I had very sore feet after our walk. Thought it was that they needed breaking in, but it has continued. Have given up and bought heel inserts for them. There is not enough support in the foot bed. Have had a lot of different manufacturers boots, but I would not buy another pair of Keens.
