Comments about SealSkinz Waterproof Crew Socks:

Took them on a trip to the Uinta Mountains in Utah to do some fly fishing and rafting. Bought them specifically to avoid having wet feet all day while getting in and out of the raft and standing ankle deep in cold river water. Like the other reviewers mentioned they are not waterproof, and will definitely hold water in when submerged. had to keep taking them off and pour the water out after every time we stepped in the river.
On the plus size they seemed to fit pretty well. They may work well for keeping some moisture out on short walks in the snow, but for what I needed them for, they did not help at all.

Comments about SealSkinz Waterproof Crew Socks:

Used these on a June trip to Quetico park in Canada. Normally I use NeoSocks with my river shoes to keep the mud and debris away from my toes and my feet warm on the long portages. It works, but after a full day of portages and getting in and out of the canoe, your feet are raisins. I thought these would be better since they weren't a wet suit for my feet. They lasted halfway through the first portage. The socks (size L) were knee high on me so I thought I was good in shin high water. Not the case and the sock don't breathe either. I had bags of water on my feet, making the portage longer. I turned them inside out and hung them to dry at camp. The inside of the socks were dry the next day so I gave them another try. I needed to pull the canoe over about 50yds of peet bog that was ankle deep in spots, but muddy. Again they only made it halfway. With mud in the shoes, it got worked in and I felt my inner socks soaking it in.These socks did not work for me. If you are crossing clean steams that are ankle deep, they might work. But keep in mind they don't breathe, so you have to deal with your own juice when you take them off AND they are [$].

Comments about SealSkinz Waterproof Crew Socks:

Size 11 fit my size 11.5 foot perfectly and they were quite comfortable, but unfortunately they are not waterproof. The fabric appears to be properly waterproof, but the seams are not sealed. A one-minute "faucet test" made the inside quite wet. I will have to return these.

Comments about SealSkinz Waterproof Crew Socks:

Last year (2011) a friend and I organized an overnight up Aravaipa Canyon in SE Arizona. It's like a mini Grand Canyon but unlike the big guy, the river is a stream/creek. Since it's a wilderness area there are no maintained trails.

The natural way up the canyon crosses the stream many times. Sometimes you are simply hiking up the middle of the stream in ankle to calf-deep water.

I was apprehensive about footwear for obvious reasons. Hiking with constantly wet feet sounded like a challenge to my current gear. My friend recommended wearing my Brooks running shoes (which provide great support) and not worrying about the wet.

I was not comforted. During a trip to REI, I presented the situation and was recommended the SealSkinz socks. I knew I did not want the traditional thick neoprene style of waterproof socks and these looked like just the ticket.

On hike day I saddled up with a pair of thin nylon socks, then the SealSkinz, and over those a pair of elastic ankle supports, all stuffed into my running shoes. I was concerned about my ankles while hiking amidst the loose rocks of the stream, hence the ankle supports.

After a day of wet hiking with a 25lb pack, I can report that I barely thought about my feet. They stayed warm and wet but no blisters or other discomfort. Hiking out the next day was equally without discomfort.

We're going again this year and I will wear exactly the same combination. If your path takes you through constant water, I highly recommend these socks.

Comments about SealSkinz Waterproof Crew Socks:

these socks suck.... not waterproof... not warm... the inside is just a plastic bag that leaks and does not breath at all, once wet they never dry and your feet suffer. Get some "gore-tex socks" that is all that needs to be said.
REI keeps deleating my review for these socks, I guess selling useless products is more important than actual usefull beta on an item.
