Kelty Acadia 6 Tent is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Tent Mahal" - Opulence at a good price. I've used this tent twice, both times in similar conditions. The first use was definitely a learning experience. High winds combined with poor setup led to a collapse and damaged pole. The onus was on me, though, as I'd failed to run the rain fly guy lines (included in bag but not pre-attached) and the angle/force of the wind basically used the fly as a parachute, pulling and bending one of the main poles. Once I got a replacement pole and realized that the guylines are essential for full structural support, it stood up just fine to similar winds AND rain on my next trip out. I'm quite happy with the tent; it has more than enough space for me, lady, dog, and gear. It packs down compact, and the fly keeps us dry without getting muggy or allowing for too much condensation. One drawback to the size/lack of solid sides on the tent itself - even with three warm bodies, the tent never gets all that warm at night. Summer's not a problem, but when temps dropped below 30 on my most recent trip, it was definitely a cold night. Ironically, the attached pic shows it without the guylines placed. lol

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Setup We have only used it once and the setup even in the dark was amazingly easy. The rain fly was a little difficult to get on but the only real problem were the flimsy zippers. They weren't broken or penetrated by the wind but just seemed weaker than most tents I've used. No telling yet whether or not it will be a problem in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Held through 2 hail storms I took this tent camping at Brainard Lake for my first run with it. It held two people and 3 dogs (one dog was only 7 lbs) pretty comfortably. What really impressed me, though was that it held up beautifully through all kinds of rain and two hail storms. One of the hail storms actually had some pieces that approached golf ball size. We all stayed dry and the tent held through it all. I was very impressed. I do reccommend getting different tent stakes though. The ones that come with are kind of flimsy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better than a wal-mart tent, some issues I purchased this tent just before a 16 day car camping trip out West. I own a similar Kelty tent with aluminum poles and smaller vestibule/fly, but similar size that I like. I was leading a group of 20+ so I needed another tent. The price was right, and I liked the bigger fly and vestibules. The first time I set it up, I needed to put the rainfly on in a hurry. I hadn't read the directions (and never did) so I'm not sure what they recommened. I didn't put in the extra pole until after the fly was attached. I also didn't use the velcro straps to attach the fly to the main poles. We were at Great Sand Dunes NP in CO. The wind blew pretty hard that night, and one of the poles came apart. It didn't break, but the elastic holding the sections together broke and was very annoying the rest of the trip. The tent never collapsed but was rocked pretty hard by the wind. I continued to put the extra pole through after the fly was in place and eventually it ripped through the fly. Those were my two main issues. I liked the vestibule space. The tent was easy to pitch. My family of six fit comfortable (my oldest child is only 8 though). I used the tent in the Rockies, at the Grand Canyon, along the Pacific near San Diego, and in Utah. We had no problem with rain or condensation. I returned the tent for a refund at an REI in Denver before we got home. I was pleased with its performance but the pole would have annoyed me and the hole in the rain fly would have been an issue that would need to be addressed. I would recommend this tent to a friend over a wal-mart tent anyday, but if they will be camping a lot, I'd drop the money for an upgrade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Anxious to take it out It was roomy and fairly easy to set up, which was good because the Instructions were not clearly stated. Especially confusing was the pole that appears to go in the fly. It actually looked like the wrong instructions were with this tent. The drawing of how the poles crossed at the top of the tent was not at all what it really looke like on the actual tent. I'm anxious to actually take it out and camp in it. Oh, a BIG selling point for me was the fact the the fly covered the tent all the way to the ground, it didn't just come part-way down.
