Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Alp Drift II Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I bought these to ride in the 2012 PALM...Pedal Across lower Michigan. I went into the store to look at sandals and came out with these. I couldnt have made a smarter choice. I just spent the last 6 days and 300+ miles riding and walking barefoot in these and all I can say is WOW! I didnt get any rashes, or bunyons or hot spots the entire trip! I threw some foot powder in them at 6am and took them off at 9pm! They are without a doubt the most comfortable cycling shoe I have ever worn, and I own 6 different pair from carbon soles to the Pearle Izumi alps. If you are thinking about riding sandals, just try these on first. They are well ventilated and slip on like a comfortable pair of old slippers. Since I bought them in the store I was able to try them on, and I bought the 45cm which is what my other shoes are so I would say they run tru to size. I dont have wide feet but I tried them with socks as well and they still had room. The material they are made from is a soft cushion like the tongue of the Alps, but the whole shoe is made from it. The guy at REI said they are made for Triathalons, I can see that, since you could slip into them barefoot while wet and get right on your bike. I love them! You will too! Buy them!

I use them on my Cannondale 6/13. it a road bike , but i like the option of walking in the shoes.
My toes hit the front whell at times , which may be related to them having a larger toe box than road shoes , so that should be a consideration .
They are very comfortable and I felt fine walking home in them after i dropped my bike off at the shop

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Alp Drift II Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I was looking for a hot-weather shoe with a stiff sole for all-day cycling that I could still walk in comfortably. This is not that shoe--walking more than a block or two not recommended--but as far as hot-weather bicycling, I totally recommend it!

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Alp Drift II Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I'm a 10.5, sometimes up to 11. The 45 was way small and went back to REI. Just got my size 46, it fits but the toe box seems low. I feel my toes on the top, although the length is just big enough. In a store I'd definitely try a 47. REI is easy on the returns but mail is such a hassle I'll stay with these. The shoes seem comfortable and well ventilated (I live in a hot climate and need that). I think they'll be good for riding.
