The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5bycozwolffromStill looks new after 450 miles!I bought this pack a few months before summer and used it as my school backpack to wear it in and it worked wonderfully! It fit my laptop (outside of it's case) in the water pouch and held up to the wear of heavy book corners.
Then I used it as my main pack all summer as a biologist technician in Alberta Canada (some rough mountains!). I hiked over 400 miles with this baby and NOTHING broke. I carried extra layers, food, water, GPS, sample kit, radio, med kit, bones, and more! This pack stayed comfortable the entire time and adjusts very easily. Opening from the top is an awesome feature for anyone into wildlife because there is no 'zip' sound to alert anything when you grab your camera out of the main pouch.
Now, with over 450 miles the only sign of wear is the dirt I forgot to clean off.

Rated5out of5byxentrickfromMy Dream Pack!!!!I have been searching for my 'Dream' bag for years. The Deuter ACT Trail 28 SL pack for women is IT! It's the perfect size, extremely comfy & pretty too. I use it for everything; it's my everyday, my weekend getaway & my international travel bag!
The front zipper access makes it the perfect suitcase.I took it with me on a recent, 8 day, trip to Cuba. The main compartment held 2 pairs of shorts,5 shirts, 2 dresses,7 pairs of undies,2 bras, 2 pairs of socks,1 hoodie, 1 swim suit, ziplock bag of tea, 1 thermal mug,1 pair of shoes,a large toiletries bag,a large manuscript & a pocket book (I'm sure I'm forgetting something)...with room to spare. The water reservoir pocket was ideal for my laptop while in transit & heaven while out and about in the hot humid weather.(*no worries about the laptop clunking around during travel, the bottom is cushioned by the rain cover pouch...I also store my med kit in the rc pouch. So it gets extra cushion.) The side pocket was perfect for accessibility to my liquids during airport screening.
I can't wait to take it with me on my, 8 week, trip to NYC, Ireland & Scotland in the spring!

Rated4out of5byRustyfromComfortable and LightA light comfortable pack for day hikes. This is my third Deuter pack and since I use water bottles instead of a bladder I should have noticed that it only had one outside pocket for a water bottle. That one pocket is minus the strap that enables you to snug down your bottle. I just got the pack yet my bottle has fallen out several times. I'm trying to figure out the best system for securing the bottle in the pocket yet still making it easy to retrieve.

Rated5out of5byseattlehikerfromLike wearing a cloud!I was in search of a new day pack that was both comfortable and spacious. After trying on several packs, fiddling with the pockets, and wanting something pretty, too, this one fit the bill perfectly. It is so comfortable! Like the headline of this review, I always tell my hiking companions that it's like wearing a cloud. I can carry a bunch of water, food, 10 essentials, and rain gear and still not be bothered by the weight of the pack. The padded straps and hip belt are excellent and make this pack so comfortable. My favorite features are the little hip belt pocket, the compression straps, the outer back pocket that makes stashing a jacket super easy, the built-in pack cover, and the adorable flower. Deuter delivers on this one.

Rated4out of5byLynfromPack was good to my back.My first interest in a backpack is comfort and this one was easy on my back. It would be great if hiking poles attached more readily, the side compartment was more accessible without removing the back and if the rain cover came in a small stuff sack. But overall I love this pack.

Rated5out of5byKSevdfromEasy Access, plenty of space,Requirements for me:
- slightly larger day pack than I had previously
- pockets on the outside
- top opening
This is a great pack with easy access. My first real test was my first attempt as a one night very lightweight backpacking trip. Then I took it as my 'bag' to stuff inside a dry bag for a 5 night rafting trip. Love the zippered access, the clips and outer pockets. While it is top loading, it is also completely zippered around the front which makes it easy to find stuff at the bottom of the pack. I used the accompanying rain cover to minimize the dirt insects getting while backpacking also. It has one hip pocket for conveniently storing lip balm or sunscreen, which I like, especially since I don't notice it at all (whereas on other packs I end up rubbing arm on them). Great pack! Very happy with it!
Everyone loves the color too!

Rated5out of5bycheryl7269fromLove this pack!I did a lot of research on day packs before finally purchasing this Deuter pack. I will be using it to hike the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim next year, but ultimately wanted a mid-size, affordable pack for the camping trips and day hiking I do. This pack is just perfect for me. I'm more of a recreational hiker, but still wanted a quality pack that I could fit enough water, extra clothing, snacks, etc. and offer all the comfort. I love that the pack is top loading and front loading - I can pack and access all my stuff easily. It has all kinds of compartments for storing small items securely. I just did three hikes in Glacier and the weather was warm. My back didn't get all sweaty. This may sound silly and trivial, but I love that it is red and the little flower! It fits me so well, I don't really even notice I have it on.

Rated5out of5bydefortlfromPerfectI love this pack. I have a Deuter SL backpack as well, and they just fit my slim shouldered, narrow/high waisted frame. It holds more than probably I'll ever need in a daypack, but it was great as the one pack for four of us on a rainy day in the Smokies a few weeks ago. I had been day hiking with an older camelbak helena, but I like the hip belt (I tried on some of the smaller deuter packs with the mesh hip belt, and felt they didn't really provide the support to help lift some of the weight off of my aforementioned narrow shoulders). The only thing I wish about Deuter in general is that they had a few internal pockets or organizers for smaller items, but if you load it up with a few separate dry bags, its easy enough to find things, and the built in rain cover is a pretty great add on.
