The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Transit Shoulder Bag:
Comfortable and holds my computer with plenty of pockets. There isn't a specific area for papers or folders, but nothing's gotten wrecked yet. Pretty great. The one beef I have is that there's a zipper top that has to be zipped to be 100% sure nothing spills out. The zipper is tough to do up, so I skip it a lot if I'm not packing my bag away.

Comments about REI Transit Shoulder Bag:
I think I love this bag. I was using the REI Urban Sling backpack but needed something more professional. This bag fits my 16 inch laptop with a cover on the top perfectly without over-stretching the neoprene sleeve. The internal 23 liter capacity I feel is just enough so that I don't overpack it. I usually carry a 1-liter water bottle, the laptop, 2 medium-sized textbooks, 2 thin notebooks, and a full folder of coursework papers. I walk to and from my job which is 30 min one way so I have to consider my shoulder which I say this bag has done well by not causing me any grief. The color is a plus to with black being much more professional than the green that was offered for a long while.
The one major con is the zipper design access for the main compartment. It's set at a tricky angle that makes access not as easy as the zippered access for the computer compartment. I tend to pack everything through the zippered access on the back of the bag for even though it's mainly for the computer. Also I would've liked some more organizers but I chose to buy this less inexpensive one compared to the REI Quantum Messenger Bag which had more but I felt looked and was reviewed as a quite bit bulkier.
The last thing isn't a con or pro but a question as to the design space behind the water bottle holders. I don't know why it's there and I looked up the specs and product description and it doesn't mention it at all.
All in all I would definitely recommend this bag. It lives up to it's great branding and I feel confident I will use this bag in years to come.

Comments about REI Transit Shoulder Bag:
I am a student and I wanted this bag to go to clinical in. There are a few things I really like about this bag. 1. The strap is solid and easily adjustable. 2. IT HAS WATER BOTTLE POCKETS, I drink a lot of water throughout the day this is one of the only bag that I could find that has some external water bottle holders. Note: I do not think the water bottle holders will fit nalgeen bottles but I use metal bottles that are thinner and they fit fine. 3. Its simple but has some nice features for getting to your gear I really like the zipper that allows you to get strait into the main compartment.
Cons: 1. The buckles a a little useless since they don't actually shrink the bag at all, they provide almost zero compression ability. 2. The zippers alson the top of the main compartment for accessing the bag the normal way have become miss aligned quite often. Its a easy fix but kind of annoying. 3. It is a bit heavy and its rough to travel with a lot of weight in it while on a bike but its a single strap bag after all.
Overall: Its a good bag for a lot less and it has its own simple style to it.

Comments about REI Transit Shoulder Bag:
This is the PERFECT transit bag I have bought to date. The bag is not overwhelming during commutes, and it forces me to pack exactly what I need for the day. Being able to zip the main compartment where my 15.6" laptop, iPad and Galaxy tablets are located provides a peace of mind when traveling abroad. The outside pocket provides easy access to airline tickets, writing pens, etc. The standard messenger bag has one water bottle compartment wherein this one has two; therefore, I can carry my dog's water bottle with ease. The padding throughout the bag is the right amount, and my shoulder is not being punished when overloading it thanks to the shoulder strap padding and mesh material to prevent it from sliding off.
Again, this bag is PERFECT for professionals who have multiple electronic devices. The color green is cute; yet I would have preferred a feminine color to prevent my companion from using it.
