Comments about REI Tech Beast Wheeled Duffel - 22":
Our family has used the REI Tech Beast 22" wheeled duffel for 3 years now. It's the perfect size for carry-on. It's been with us everywhere we've travelled, and has been our favorite go to bag for quick weekend trips between big flights. Most recently, we challenged ourselves on a trip to Australia to take only what we needed for 3 weeks as carry on. The Tech Beast is lightweight enough that we were able to pack plenty to keep us clothed and clean for our trip and stay under the airline weight limits. The bag has inner zips, straps, and pockets everywhere to stash just what you need so you're not the annoying person in the plane having to unpack the overhead bin to find your headphones. I'm back for another Tech Beast now that our oldest kid has grown out of his rolling kid backpack.

I was amazed that I could pack everything I needed for a week long trip to southern California in this little bag. The pockets on top for airline-sized toiletries etc are a real great feature.

I love the well thought out exterior pockets, like the one facing down, perfect for in flight necessary items you left in your bag but need in flight without taking the suitcase all the way out of the overhead bin

I'm one of those people who hates to check-in luggage. For people that travel a lot, having your luggage lost or being unable to swap flights because you checked your bag is a huge boon.
I've gone through a lot of luggage and I can't recommend this one enough. While Tumi's has very thoughtful bag design, their pricing is outrageous and costs more than a roundtrip tick to Bali.
When the Tech Beast was designed, I feel like it was designed for me. Everything you need, nothing you don't. Great shoe compartment that fits 1 large pair and 2 sandals. Easy access 3/3/1 liquid bag. Streamlined designed that fits every overhead compartment without fuss. Rugged handles in the right places so its easy to board/unboard, even if the bag is heavy. Solid wheel foundation and a handlebar that doesn't feel like it's going to break.
Highly recommend.

I saw this on sale, and I was getting ready for a tour of Italy. It held clothing, and it fits into an overhead bin. The tapered end allows it to fit into the curved storage on the plane where others would not fit.

I use the new REI rolling pack to transport art supplies. It works perfectly. My Soltek easel just fits. Very happy with the way it rolls, and its sleekness.

I travel a lot for both work, pleasure, and global mission trips. I have used many of the "high end" bags (my current bags are Travel Pro and Tumi in addition to these bags), and this bag is right up there with the best of them, but for 1/3 the price. I have given the bags the toughest treatment I think possible (Folks in my organization use the bags to carry heavy loads of books, multiple times a day, 300 days a year around south Asia) and they are holding up flawlessly. These bags also holds more than you might expect. The only con is the bag is not a true hardside and would not be the best at protecting items requiring delecate handling. Also, the bag comes with a clear pouch, which I can only assume is for liquids and toiletries for security check points, but I have found to be too small for actual use. I have just tossed this little addition away.

The TechBeast is a well-designed carry-on bag, best for overnights or other short trips. The outer pocket is easy to access at security, and even comes with a durable bag to replace the ubiquitous zip-lock for your "liquids and gels". Although I sometimes have to put it in the overhead bin handle first, I have never had a problem getting it to fit. In fact, I can't even remember having to turn it sideways. I have never had trouble getting all my gear into it, including suits, running shoes, etc., and love having a separate compartment for my running gear on the return trip. We bought this bag to replace an Eagle Creek bag my wife and I had used for 10 years (we even nicknamed it b/c we liked it so much), but the TechBeast is better. Kudos to REI and the design team on this one.

Travel both NA and internationally for work and was looking for a good carry on bag - this fit the bill. Fits in the 777 outside overheads with ease on AA, BA and Iberia. On a 767 had to turn it sideways to fit, no problem though. Easy to manage on the planes and in terminals. Could be a little wider at the narrow end. Used some Eagle Creek Pack-It system pieces and was complimented by TSA about how well organized my bag was. The interior zipper for expansion sometimes gets stuck with fabric so be careful when zipping. Just got back from 10 days in Europe and Northern Africa (work and holiday) using just the Tech Beast and a back pack - pretty good fit. The clear plastic cosmetics bag is not that great, can only fit about 4 items in there but the size of the pocket fits some other plastic bags so good use was made. Wheels got a little wonky at times but that could have been user error, lol. Glad I made the purchase.

I've been using this bag for about 3-4 years, taking it on numerous trips. It's held up beautifully -- better than any other carry-on bag I've ever owned. It's a good size for a 2-3 night trip, provided you don't take too many pairs of shoes. If it were an inch or two wider, it would be perfect. It's lightweight, very easy to maneuver, and extremely sturdy. My girlfriend used it once and liked it so much that I got her one.
