The Patagonia MiniMass messenger bag is a downsize courier bag that holds a day's essentials but still allows you to stay light and move freely.

It's sized to hold the basics: lunch, phone, keys, a book or 2, and a stuffable rain shell
Main flap opens to largest compartment which houses 1 drop pocket, 1 mesh pocket, 1 padded electronics pocket, 3 pen slots and a discrete and secure zippered pocket
Interior drop pocket secures with hook and loop tab for quick access to boarding passes, magazines or newspapers
Large weather-shedding front flap sports a zip pocket, reflective panel and a mount for a bike light (sold separately); includes a side-mounted exterior water bottle pocket
Pocket on flap has a moisture-shedding reverse coil zipper

I just bought my second Minimas yesterday at the REI member sale/member coupon with rebate.
I was looking around the store and trying out all the great bags and then I saw the new colors for the minimas by Patagonia and that was it- the others just don't compare to how smart and perfectly sized this bag is for me. I combine my everyday purse items with dog park needs- small water bottle/drink bowl, dog treats, dog poop bags, leashes. I really appreciate the front flap zip pocket for my car keys, since I have a Prius and I never need to take my keys out but need to have them readable by the car, and the interior pockets for phone, pens, etc. I use the outer side pocket for a roll of doggie poop bags so those are always handy. I also really appreciate the design at the top inside that folds back to prevent rain from dripping into the cargo area of the bag. If I take the dog items out, this bag is perfect for outings with my smaller knitting projects, or for a book and snack while still holding all my regular purse items. Perfect size for me and the quality is tops!
