Comments about Cannondale CAAD10 5 Compact Bike - 2012:
hello i use this product to explore, alot. i have already had it in 7 states it 2 mounths and let me tell you it is great. it is so fun down those 45 mph down hills and managible back up them. it handles great and it is a bit more gentle than you might think considering its an aluminun bike. i love this bike to peices however there is a dark side to the lovly bike. its crank is really cheep. yep i have already broken off 10 teeth on the top chane ring and am going to have to change it soon. it is the week link in the bike. i do have somthing to say in its defence my wife has the same crank and it has just about as many miles and is fine. i weigh 180 she weighs 120. maby its good for the lighter fokes. regardless if you do weigh as much as i do and you love to stand up and charge up to the top of the steepist hills that stand in your way. you may consider going with the caad10 4 or 3. they are a little more but i am know replacing my crank with a more expencive part which is cousting me more. this is just my two cents but it is worth concidering.

Comments about Cannondale CAAD10 5 Compact Bike - 2012:
An all around great bike. Little or no shock absorption, but that's to be expected as it has no suspension. The components are great quality and the ride is very smooth (or at least as smooth as the road).

Comments about Cannondale CAAD10 5 Compact Bike - 2012:
Great bike! I ride mostly 30-50 miles on decent roads with some hills. I had a CAAD3 previously and this bike is so much more refined and comfortable. The fit is great and I feel like I can ride much further than before without any discomfort. I have already replaced the tires and will look to upgrade wheels, but otherwise, the bike is spec'd really well.

Comments about Cannondale CAAD10 5 Compact Bike - 2012:
Disclaimer: I didn't buy my bike from REI, I bought it from a local bike shop cause they had my size and they threw in some extras (pedals & computer) cause I've done some other business with them in the past.
Yes I know they don't make Cannondales by hand in PA like they did when I bought my previous bikes and I also know they are owned by doral group now and they weld them in the same factory in Taiwan where they build the other doral group bikes, but this thing is still fast and light and flies. Yes you can buy a full carbon from some other companies for about the same price (Felt), but this bike is just as light and just as quick as those sub $2,000 carbon bikes. The 105 group is great for my cycling level. My dad has Ultegra and it's better, but not $1000 better. His bike is also full carbon and its lighter, but not a lot lighter. The brakes are Tektro instead of Shimano but they work fine for road bike brakes. The Shimano RS10 wheels are OK, but you can upgrade over time and still be better off than buying a low-end carbon bike in my opinion, and you still have spent about the same amount of money and have better wheels.
My only con might be that on my older (late 90's) Cannondale (which prouldy states "Handmade in the USA") the welds are seamless. It looks like the bike was stamped out of one piece of aluminum instead of tubes joined together. One this bike, the welds are much more noticeable. It's not a deal breaker by any measure but takes a little away from the pride of ownership. I guess that's just the way it is now that times are tougher and everyone needs to cut costs.
