Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
I must say, I did a good bit of research before purchasing this tent and in the end it won by offering the largest amount of space for the weight from what I could find and a price I could live with. It also won because I used my 20% off coupon.
This tent is really light for a 3 person tent. I am 6' and I had room for my pack as my pillow and my feet were no where close to the other end of the tent. Two 10 year old boys with me as well. All the packs were inside with us and most of our gear other than shoes that were left under the good size vestibules on either side. Set up was quite simple, I set it up myself in about 5 minutes or so. I have had it on one trip so far. We hiked in to Lost Maples State Natural area in Vanderpool TX, around 3.15.13. It ended up being quite a test for this tent. All was peaceful going to bed that evening and then a front came sweeping through the low valley and just about blew us away. I had been expecting it (that's why all the gear was inside)because the forecast before we left had mentioned a cold front would be arriving Saturday night and the winds would be around 45 miles per hr. Well let me tell you, 45 is one thing but when it comes barreling through the hills and sweeping down the canyons it turns into about 75 mph. I can say that this tent survived where many did not. There was a boy scout troop in the same camp area with us and you could here the tents being abandoned each time a strong gust blew through. My friends tent had fiberglass poles and one of them snapped (scared me to death, sounded like a gun went off). This tent held it's own throughout the ordeal but I can tell you I was worried. At times the side that was facing the wind (entry vestibule side not wall side)would completely collapse and then spring back up again. This happened all night (at least 4-5 hrs)from the heavy gusts. In the morning the wind was still hitting hard. We managed to pack up and head out. It was a mess.
After getting it home and inspecting the tent I noticed that the main pole that runs across the top of the tent had a bit of a bend in 2 pole extensions. The poles did not have these prior. I bent them back into shape. I don't think this will be an issue for me considering what the tent went through.
I do believe I will enjoy this tent for a long time to come. It's nice to split the weight between 1 man and 2 boys. It's a good option for this type of camping and splitting. I don't think I would recommend three grown men trying to fit in it though. Two grown adults would however be extremely comfortable and the split would be like 2.5 lbs each.
I hope this helps anyone considering this tent.
P.S. I also really like the carry bag. It has cinch straps on it so if your in a hurry to pack up and don't have the the time to be neat you can still cinch it down small. I haven't seen this on other tent bags. Good job REI

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
This is a fantastic tent. I used this tent while in New Mexico on a Boy Scouting trip. My only problem was it started to become a little drafty once the winds picked up a bit. Also, there was one day where it was a down pour and my friends and I ended up with some water in our tent. From what I can gather, the rain hit the ground and bounced into the tent a bit. It wasn't to bad though. I just think the tent walls could go up a bit more before the mesh starts. This would help the rain and wind problem. I just thought I would note that fact. Other than that though, this tent was nice and spacious for three tall and somewhat large guys. I am 6'2" and 165 pounds. My friends were 6'0" and a lot broader in the shoulders and there was still plenty of room for all 3 of us. This is a fantastic tent and I would definitely purchase it again.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
I have used this tent now for over a year, and each time I use it, I just pinch myself. It's hands-down the best camping investment I've ever made. REI did this one right.
The setup is incredibly fast and easy. I love the color-coordinated system for the poles, and since the tent body clips to the poles (rather than the poles running through sleeves), I can easily set up the tent solo. By fast, I mean I can get the tent up in maybe 2 minutes. Set up in the dark is super easy because of the strategically placed reflectors they integrated into the design.
The tent is roomy enough for two adults and all your stuff. We got the Plus version for more legroom. I am a 5'9" female that likes my space, and my husband is a 6'2" big guy. We are primarily car campers, but for the one or two backpacking trips we do, it's still light enough to easily take on the trail.
I do highly recommend getting the footprint, it'll protect your tent so it lasts longer and save you in a downpour.
I've used the tent in steady all-day and all-night rain and we didn't get wet! For camping in the Northwest, rain protection is essential. In addition, there is NO condensation to speak of inside the tent. We've also camped in Death Valley with this guy and left the rainfly off and we had an amazing view of the starry sky because of the open mesh walls. Ventilation with the rainfly on is decent if you need privacy or rain protection in a hot climate.
Great design, thoughtful details, good value!

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
My son and I just used this tent at a Scout Camporee. We were both extremely pleased with the T3 Plus. It was easy (and quick) to put up (even in the dark) and very roomy; we were able to keep our duffel bag and back pack in the tent with us. The vestibules were great, we kept our boots in one and our big duffel in the other. We had temperatures in the low 40s at night and winds gusting to 30 mph and the tent was a rock. I particularly liked the storage pockets and loops. We were able to stash all our small items like head lamps, glasses, etc and hung a small lantern from one of the loops. A great product.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
Took the tent on a 5 day/4 night canoe trip down the Green River in Moab. Size was perfect to fit in a dry bag and in the canoe with the rest of the gear. Easy to set up by one person except in windy conditions and then you need an extra person to help hold it down while you stake and anchor it down. Its perfect size for 2 people and a couple of dry bags full of clothes.
Best part is the ability to fit it all back into the bag each morning without hassle.
The only drawback for me is the doors on the rainfly don't give a lot of room but thats only a small issue.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
My wife and I love our new tent. I'm 6'5" and the tent offers plenty of room. It offered enough room at the end of our long exped pads and although I could comfortably sit inside the tent as well.
The tent's construction is good and it held up really well in a very strong thunderstorm that had gusts of 40 mph. There are 6 interior pockets, one in each corner and one above each door which was nice to see. The rain fly was very effective and the tent stay dry. The only knock I have on the rain fly is that the vestibule size was a little tight for my 80L pack. My wife's pack fit fine. All in all, I recommend this product to anyone looking for a couple's backpacking tent.

Backpacked the tent on a 8 mile hike in Montana. It is very spacious for two adults. One adult and two kids is fine too. It would be cramped with three adults. It sets up easily. The sticks and tent are color coded for easier set up.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
Had the original T3 and it was a bit too short for myself and the extra length on the PLUS is great. Havent used enough but the higher sides look like they will do what they were designed to do. Less water in if wind driven rain makes it under the fly.
I love REI tent bags, they make it so easy to get yor tent back in.
One downside is that they decided to skimp and give you 6 stakes instead of 8 as in the prior versions. They supply you with guy lines but no stakes to make them work. So if you buy you will need at least two more stakes to make the tent work properly.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
This tent takes about 5 minutes to set up. The fly is easy to attach and has enough overhang by the doors to protect shoes and gear from rain. It is roomy for 2 people and a palace for one. The doors are easy to zip. The band of fabric around the bottom of the walls protects you from wind blowing under the fly. The tent packs to a small size.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T3 Plus Tent:
Bought this tent for my 6'2" boyfriend for Xmas and we have used it a few times, including most recently in a 12-hour rainstorm. No leaks, no condensation and 2-sided vestibule meant we each had our own "porch" to store muddy boots and wet rain gear without worrying that it would continue to get wet.
It is a great tent - easy to set up once you realize what you're supposed to do, roomy enough for us and our backpacks in the rainstorm and very comfortable for us and our 110-pound dog in better weather.
Only downside is it's heavy for backpacking, but it's such an awesome tent that I just bought the 2-person version. Suspect we'll have to leave the big dog at home when we use it, however.
