Comments about REI Quarter Dome T2 Plus Tent:
Before buying this tent, I had been looking for about three months. I was looking for something versatile and light weight. I found this tent at the rei used gear sale. What a hallalua moment! I have used this tent on mountains with 30 plus mile an hour wind, heavy ran, heavy snow, backpacking all over the northwest. This tent is the best. My wife feels uncomfortable with how much i love and care for this tent. This tent is loaded with all of the best features! Every part of it is soooo well thought out. The minimum weight at 4 and a half pounds is awsome for a two person tent. Also the minimalist set up with out the body of the tent is really a great option too. I love the amount of usable floor space this tent has. Me and a buddy can fit confortably in it together. I 6.5 feet and sleep with enough space for sleeping pad, bag extra clothes, book, waterbottle. The walls are almost vertical so all floor space is usable. The fly is super waterproof. Also has enough guy lines to make it really almost windproof. The fly also has the chimneys for good ventilation. The polls are a little different. It has only one hubbed poll. I was skeptical at first. But its still is super strong and way more light weight. The body is really nice. With a waterproof floor, and 6 pockets. Two on the roof for the doors, or whatever. then two on each side of the tent. Two doors and two vestubles makes this a truly comfortable two person tent. I would recommend this tent to anybody that really wants value for there money. At [$] it is a killer deal. If you are looking for a tent that is lightweight and can pretty much do everything, then this tent is really for you. I wouldn't change a thing about this tent. It is perfect!

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T2 Plus Tent:
I've now used this tent on four trips on the AT and one trip in the Smokies. It's easy to set up, with excellent air flow even all buttoned up. I'm 6-5, and this tent has plenty of room for me, another similarly-sized person, and two XL Neo-air mattresses. This kept me perfectly dry one remarkably windy and rainy night on top of Roan Mtn, TN last fall, and it's been great w/o the fly on gentler nights. The zippers are tiny and feel like they could be easily damaged. But they've worked great so far, and should last years if treated with a little patience. Nice colors, too -- my last tent was like sleeping inside a mango. I've been hiking for 40-plus years now, starting with a canvas Eureka tent during the Nixon administration (my REI membership cost $5), and this is the best tent I've ever used.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T2 Plus Tent:
I've only pitched in my living room so far (it's still 4-season tent weather here in Alaska), and I'm very impressed with how intuitive and quick the process was. That being said, this review can only touch upon the superficial, cosmetic attributes of the tent, rather than the wind-sturdiness, waterproof properties, ventilation, &c.
The first thing I noticed was that the T2 Plus does kind of a corkscrew thing when you pitch it. Meaning, one of the orange poles is not in contact with the ground if not staked out. This causes one of the corners to hang in the air 2 to 3 inches at all times unless there is some force that acts against the spring/pulling action of the pole. I had previously bought the T2 (but exchanged it because it was too small for my 6'3" frame in a mummy bag), and did not notice a similar asymmetry when pitched. I called REI and they told me to take it in to my local store and somebody there could determine if it was defective or not. I did so, and was told that it was not. One REI employee told me that the tent was specifically designed that way so as to facilitate airflow under the tent when it was unladen, promoting faster drying. I don't generally leave my tent set up for too long after I wake up, but I could see how that would be useful in some situations. Another REI employee told me that it was really nothing to worry about, as the tent would sit level when staked out and full of camper(s). The floor model T2 Plus had the same corner-lift as my tent, so I reckon that my tent is not defective.
Other than the above mentioned non-defect, the tent is great. I am able to get in and out without any trouble. The zippers on the doors terminate at the top (teardrop shaped) affording the door a welcome level of versatility. There is a stuff pocket for the door on the ceiling which is very handy, and preferable to other methods of door stowage that I have seen. Several gear loops make the inside of the tent functional and versatile. The zippers pull smoothly with one hand except when the anchor material transitions from mesh to not mesh, though it's not a terribly involved or difficult process to get it going again. The stow pockets are a adequate for their purpose. The weight to volume ratio is excellent, and I don't feel cramped when sitting up in the tent. Fabric above face level (when lying down) is a nice, logical detail that belies REI's attention to detail and functionality in design.
I can't wait to get this tent out into the backcountry and see how well it fares. I'll let you know!

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T2 Plus Tent:
I received this tent after lots of review searching and comparison. I am so glad I chose this tent! It is the perfect companion to my weekend backpacking trips, and I would love to take it on some car camping trips and week long backpacking as well. The tent is so easy to set up, thanks to the color coded single-pole assembly. The footprint is great, too (sold separately), with it you can make an ultra light tent with just the footprint and the rainfly (I haven't slept like that yet, just set it up for fun, pretty slick!) My first trip out in it was a one nighter in a steady rainstorm. Thankfully, the vestibules are huge, and all of our wet gear was able to "dry" in one vestibule while we used the other as an exit. There were two of us in the tent, cozy warm all night even in the steady rain. I am 5'4" and this tent allows me room to stow my backpack at my feet (just), and comfortable space for a second person as well. Even in the rainstorm not a drop of water in the tent except for a bit on condensation on the emergency blankets I had opened just in case. None of that annoy condensation along the bottom. A later trip in hot weather proved that the tent ventilates well, and didn't get stuffy (or bugs!). So far, I love the lightness, easy of assembly and disassembly, and pure comfort of camping in this tent. I have only had it a year, so I can't vouch for the real long term durability of the screen (I am a bit concerned about the strength of the mesh with the entry zipper pulling on it) but so far all is well. I whole-heartedly recommend this tent!

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T2 Plus Tent:
After several years of using many different types of tents, I have found one that fits both the needs of saving space and weight in my pack. Although it is light and small, it is very durable. It also preforms great in the winter. I was afraid that the fly may not be able to take the beating of 4-5 inches of snow, but it handled it with ease. No matter how much it may rain or snow, I have never had any water seep into the tent. The double doors are an extra bonus. They make it easier to get in and out when there are multiple people inside. Along with the doors, the two vestibules are great for storing packs and extra gear. Another great thing about the Quarter Dome is that the poles all connect together. It saves time and effort, when putting the tent together. The poles are also color-coded so you do not have to worry about putting the poles in the wrong grommet. My only complaint is that the tent can get cramped at full capacity. Other than that, the REI Quarter Dome is a great tent and I would strongly recommend it to anyone that wants to have a light and reliable tent.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T2 Plus Tent:
I owned a T2 and T3 previous to this tent - but sold them both after buying this bad boy. I am 6'5" - so I watch every inch inside of a tent. The T2 was fine - but I had to sleep diagonally. With this tent - I feel like I am in a palace. I can sit up with comfort inside - sleep with a second person with no problem - stow gear inside with room for myself. I just love this tent. Nice and light - and room to spare. Thank God for the PLUS in the T2 Plus!
Hiked this weekend - set it up - got HEAVY rain, wind and thunder - not a drop inside and I slept like a bear...

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T2 Plus Tent:
This tent is great! Lightweight and easy to set up. Still trying to get the hang of the rain fly and how to properly attach it to the poles but other than that this tent is great. I have used it on many 2-3 day hiking trips. Cleans up easily and dries out fast. The only problem I have noticed is the zipper on the doors have a dead point and you have to stretch out the fabric to continue which is not that big of a problem. Plenty of pockets to stuff your things on the inside of the tent along with a couple of loops to hang some of your stuff to dry out if your being rained on. Plenty of room on the inside for your sleeping bag and equipment. Then rain cover adds extra room to keep your shoes dry during the rain. Have had a couple of holes made due to having the tent to close to the fire but its nothing that is in need of repair.

Comments about REI Quarter Dome T2 Plus Tent:
Used this tent for the first time this year. I stayed in it by myself, I like room. It was easy to set up and take down, I created my own tent footprint cutting it out of a blue tarp. I chose the plus because I like room. I slept comfortably even with my gear inside. Im not a tall person but I prefer to keep my gear inside so it wont get wet or stolen if others are nearby. It has plenty of pockets in the corners so you can stow small item, but I would like to have a small gear loft up. You can never use to many places to put things away.
