I had the same experience that the first reviewer had in terms of fit. I'm 5'3" and 110 pounds. In order to get a good fit in the waist, I needed a size 2; the waist in the size 4 was just huge on me. However, despite the good waist fit of the size 2, the fit in the butt, hips, and thighs is tight. I definitely felt it when I took the pants out for their first hike today; the area with the zipper was pushing uncomfortably into my leg, especially as my muscles bulked up over the course of 11 miles.

It's strange to me that North Face would get basic pants like these so wrong in terms of proportions, and it's disappointing, given that they're the only convertible pants I've been able to find with a nice feel otherwise and a shorts inseam that's not knee- or capri-length.

These pants are recommended with reservations.

I am 5'7" and 126 lbs. Ordered the size 4 and it was fine in the waistband but very tight across hips, thighs and butt. Too tight to be comfortable to hike in. The style is great and I like the inseam and where the shorts would fall when you converted them. I will try the size 6 but not sure they will fit right in the waist, length, etc. I would recommend...but consider ordering up a size.
