I bought the normal size that I wear, in fact a half size larger than some of my shoes. These felt very narrow and my toes were packed in tight. I failed to notice this at first and went on an 8 mile loop. On the way back I was seriously considering going barefoot :/
Maybe if tried a larger/wider size they would have been better, but I ended up with the Brooks Cascadia 7 in the exact same size and they are fantastic!!

Great shoe if you're interested in minimalist running but not quite ready to commit to a bare bones shoe. I'm a regular short distance runner and was interested in trying out a minimalist shoe, but found that the first pair I tried was too drastic of a move from a traditional shoe. The Brooks Pureconnect has been a perfect step in that direction without complete sacrificing shock absorption (and my knees). I've been wearing them now for a few weeks and I'm very pleased with the fit and feel of this shoe.

Brooks PureConnect Road
Note-REVIEW SAME DAY THEY WERE PURCHASED-
Slipping into the shoes was a cinch and the design/aesthetic very easy on the eyes. Now, I wear flip-flops a lot during the summer and get around okay without any aches and pains, but when I walked around REI a bit to try out the shoes I immediately felt like my joints were being massaged even as I just stood there. My knees, hips, ankles, spine, and my eyes all felt like I was receiving a gentle mind-melting massage.
Possible downside for me personally, @ size 14 my feet are a tad wider than some shoes are designed to accommodate, that being said, after wearing them while doing some errands and coming home I noticed the sides of my feet at the fifth metatarsal were noticeably sore, but the ache went away after a few minutes. The material of the shoes seem to make up for this narrowness by having a stretchy mesh that will probably break in sooner than later.

I ask a lot from my shoes. I enjoy a wide variety of activities, and I don't like having a shoe for each one. This is my first pair of brooks, and they were suggested to me by an REI employee after I listed what I was looking for:
-Something lightweight
-comfortable
-good for trail running
-can hold up to crossfit workout and weightlifting
-hiking
-... and I need it to drain water well, since I enjoy mud runs / obstacle races / etc.
This shoe is like a tough, comfortable sock. The weight is amazing and the feel is great. I have fairly narrow feet, and it seems that is the main complaint of these shoes, but they work great for me. In the past 5 months these shoes have withstood:
5k-12k mud runs
frequent trail runs in all weather conditions
backpacking trips (including Half Dome)
crossfit 3-4 per week
The only negative I might mention is durability. That said, it's a road running shoe that I've taken into the back woods. Mine certainly don't look new, but they've got some miles left in them yet.
I grew up playing basketball and foot comfort is extremely important to me. This is the most comfortable shoe I have ever stepped into. I highly recommend it.

After years of New Balance and Adidas I decided to venture out and try something different. Man, was I surprised how good these shoes are, as soon as I tried them on I instantly realized how bulky my other shoes were. Sure they don't have the stability that other shoes offer but what they lack in that area they more than make up for in light-weight and arch support. Some may complain about the "narrowness" of the shoes but I found the fit to be perfect and I have average feet. I've put about 60 miles in these so far and I'll be buying another pair for sure.

Please don't change the narrow, I love it! These are the most comfortable shoes I have worn. They are great for walking around town, short day hikes, running and what I originally bought them for.... a very light weight pair of camp shoes for backpacking.
My feet are more on the narrow, or "low volume" side. I finally found a pair of shoes that my feet don't slip around in! They do feel best without socks but my light Smartwool PHD socks also feel great in them.
I should also mention that they are very stable. The sales person at REI pointed out the well designed tread pattern with the oval shaped lug on the outside-center sole of each shoe. I notice that it helps to prevent roll out.
If there is any concern I have at all it may be that in the long run, the mesh at the outside front tip of the shoe may not wear very well if you walk on rocky trails. I have had these shoes for 4 months now and have noticed a tiny hole wearing through the fine mesh from bumping rocks. However, I don't believe these shoes are intended for trail running in the first place.
I love these shoes and highly recommend them.

Ok, these shoes are great... if you have normal to narrow feet. I don't buy wide shoes, but my feet are on the wide side of normal. I usually take negative reviews with a grain of salt (If 99 other people said the tent was water-proof, then maybe you just didn't set it up right, etc), but the ones about these shoes being narrow are all true. They are incredibly comfortable running, so so for just wearing around. Mainly I just didn't notice my piggies screaming when I was running. Bottom line: don't buy these without trying them on first like I did. They are incredible shoes, if they fit. Apart from being narrow, the sizing seemed dead on.

this is the most comfortable running shoe I've ever used. I'm a heavier runner, 6'-0" 213lbs, and I find these to be extremely soft and comfortable on the pavement. They are also very light compared to the previous shoes I've worn and I feel like I'm not wearing a shoe at all. The outer sole is soft and I suspect wont last very long but for [$] you can't expect too much. I highly recommend these.

Was curious about barefoot/minimalist running and decided to give it a try with a Brooks model. Less padding than a "regular" running shoe, but just enough to help in changing stride and give a little confidence in the move to barefoot running. More comfortable than expected on hard running surfaces, but have so far used them only for runs of less than one hour. Socks aren't needed, but any five-toe type will work. Just remember to continually remind yourself of the stride changes needed with these types of shoes.
