This is my first "serious" back pack. I have so far only taken training hikes with the pack loaded with books to simulate the gear it will eventually hold. Seems fine. The pack itself is very light weight so most of the weight will be in the contents, as it should be. I am in training for a 500 mile hike in the fall and that will be the real test.

I used this pack for the first time this weekend to do a 2 night hike along the AT in Georgia. It was great! I'm six feet tall and thin, and the medium fit like a dream. It was super comfortable, and the straps adjust perfectly. The only cons are that it is a little small for more than a two-day hike, and you can only load it from the top, which made it impossible to fit my sleeping bag in while in its case. Other than that, it's got lots of great pockets, and it's incredibly comfortable for someone like me who only backpacks a couple of times a year.

The bag was overall a great looking pack. I did have to return it however, because the bag was a woman's size "small" and not a pack size "small". The hip belt did not adjust wide enough to buckle around my waist comfortably. I have a short torso and was hoping to lighten the pack weight by buying a sized pack rather than a "one size". I think it would be a great pack, had I bought the medium. It was a good quality for the price.

Also, I will mention that the Reading store does not carry these in stock, so when I returned it I had to go with the Deuter ACT Lite 60 + 10 SL Pack.
