Comments about NiteRider Pro 3000 Bike Light:
I went into my local REI and they had 2 units on sale for [$]! the one i have was returned due to condensation on the lens. little did that person know that in the winter the lights often can get condensation on the lens and it goes away after you let it cool down. So i got a steal of a deal on this unit.I have only got out on 1 ride with it but man is this thing bright! I had an older nite rider slick rock 900 and this unit on low is just as bright as the older unit on high! the light is so bright I dont think you need to even turn it on high but when you do this thing will get you through any trail no matter how dark.the only problem i have had is the DIY software. When i plug the headlamp into the charging dock it wont allow me to update. gotta contact nite rider about this.

Comments about NiteRider Pro 3000 Bike Light:
I no longer ride at night, but when I did the NiteRider lights were indispensible. My friend and I would ride side by side on the empty streets, and the rare car would mistake us for another vehicle. The lights are expensive, but lesser lights don't satisfy the requirements of visibility and dependability. Not only is one light expensive, two are twice as expensive and you do need two! The handlebar mounted light shows where you are headed, and you need one mounted on your helmet to show where you want to go. I also mounted two rear red lights: one on my helmet, and one at the back of my bike. With this setup I could see as well at night as I needed to and didn't feel that I was compromised compared to the daytime. I rode also on trails at night, and visibility was equally good.
If you are going to ride at night I think it is this setup or nothing. I have seen many people get hurt with cheap lights or few lights because they didn't have enough illumination. I know $1,500 is ridiculous for lights, but maybe you don't have to tell your wife. Anyway, it is cheaper than your co-pay for a clavicle plate.
Also, I would buy from REI. If you don't like the light they take it back no question. I bought one NiteRider LED light that I though wasn't as good as it should be, and they returned the $700 without a question.
