Comments about NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Bike Light:
After reading the other reviews about this product I decided to take the plunge anyway. Prior to taking it on the road, I repeatedly bench-tested the bicycle light for over a week and achieved the following average results: 4 hour, 6 hour, and 8 hour run times at 1500, 900, and 450 lumens, respectively.
Have had no issues to date, however, I will update my review, if necessary.
I previously owned the NiteRider Digital Evolution and had no problems with it, either.

Comments about NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Bike Light:
I gave this one star because it was not as adverised. On the brightest beam and the flashing beam, the battery state shows all red lights within seconds, with a fully charged battery. I then have to disconnect/re-connect the cord to get the two lower beams. I'm trying to find out how I can return it to REI.

Comments about NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Bike Light:
I had the same issue as previously reported in that my battery only lasted about 5 minutes. It was dead out of the box and after a full charge it came on gloriously bright then after about 5 minutes it rapidly went throug the battery warning stages and went dead. Tried this twice then exchanged it for a new unit.
This unit seems to be working flawlessly. On high it is like riding at daylight and the trail lights up (I use it primarily for our night MTB rides). Most of our night rides are about 1:15 so it is fine battery wise, but the reason I picked this over the 750 was that running it at medium I can get 3 hours (according to specs, not yet tested) and even at low it is as bright as the light it replaced and is supposed to go for 6 hours, though I don't plan any night rides longer than 3 hours personally.
It has a very sturdy mount, nice battery configuration for mounting it below the top tube, and includes the extention cable and helmet mount.
Other than an apparent issue in battery quality this seems to be an awesome light. I am trusting that the battery issues are identified upon delivery, but that is the advantage of the REI return policy if not.

Comments about NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Bike Light:
With three light output settings the NR Pro 1500 Race quickly becomes your best friend out on the trail during the darkest of nights. It's relatively lightweight and can be mounted on your helmet or handlebar. So far I have been able to get 3+ hours out of one full battery charge on the trails by using the different light settings. Realistically, running the light on high (1500 lumens ) continuously is major overkill. This setting is best on downhill sections. Most of the time the medium setting (900 lumens) is perfect.

Comments about NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Bike Light:
I took this light out for the first time last week. The performance of the Pro 1500 was outstanding. I did a 12 miler starting long after the sun set so it was dark from the start. By using the three different light output settings in varying conditions I was able to squeeze out well over 2 hours with one charge. Running this light solely on medium power (900 lumens) will get you about 3 hours out of a single charge. I'll be using the Pro 1500 quite often, so if I run into any issues with it I'll be sure to post again in an update.

Comments about NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Bike Light:
I was told that the 1500 Race was compatible with "everything" from my Pro 1200. It is not. This was from a NiteRider rep at InterBike, where I bought one as a show special for retailers only. For it's first use I took it out to an island to do 12-mile training loops for an upcoming RAAM Qualifier that I do every year in Florida.
The light's battery started blinking all red after only 12 miles (!!!) and then it quit. Fortunately, I was back at my car when it died. After it sat for a few minutes it worked again, with green LEDs on the life indicator. I rode another 12 mile loop, but I had a spare light in my bike trunk because I was riding in pitch-black of night with zero street lamps, in the country, miles from anything.
Once back to my car (12-mile loop, using the car as a food/water/SAG stop) I decided I'd use one of my known-reliable Pro-1200 batteries to power the light (now blinking red again). But, the rep was wrong - though "similar", the connections are NOT the same and the old batteries could not be used to power this new light... and the new light's battery was dead after 36 miles...about 2 hours of run-time. So I ended my night training, loaded up all my gear and drove home the 20 miles. Very, very disappointing.
I'll be calling NiteRider tomorrow to ask for a return. The light is wonderfully bright - I wish I felt good about it, but I would NEVER use it on a 24-hour road race. No way.

Comments about NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Bike Light:
I got this, charged it up, the next night I went for a night ride. I got about 15 miles from the trailhead and it started getting dark, I was excited for the first use, I turned it on and it died in a few seconds and would not turn on, I had to ride and hike out (wearing cleats) for the entire 15 miles, it took 3 hours to get home. Apparently it is a known issue with the light, it has been over a 6 weeks and the replacement has not come. Would not recommend.

Comments about NiteRider Pro 1500 LED Race Bike Light:
My NiteRider MiNewt Duals died after two years so I bought this light online. I waited for it to arrive at my store, brought it home, charged it overnight, got on my bike and the light went out after 30-seconds and wouldn't work again, so I had to change my clothes and drive to work in the dark. I ordered another and had to drive to work 5-days while I waited for the shipment since my little blinky is not good enough for night riding.
The new light came in, I brought it home, charged it overnight, and AGAIN this one went on then off after 30-seconds. I drove to work MAD called NiteRider and they said they'd test one, and send it out that day. I asked for a tracking number since I really wanted to be able to ride my bike and wanted to know exactly when it would arrive. They said they were "too busy" to give me the number.
So I waited a week and it never came. So now I'm three weeks without a light. I called NiteRider again and they told me it never shipped because they didn't have any and they were hoping to get parts by the end of the week and hopefully I could get it the week after. I explained that I had been misinformed about the shipping (lied to) and due to THEIR poor quality control I would be with out lights for a month and asked if they could do anything to help me like send me a different light to use and I'd be happy to give them my credit card number to make sure I would return it. They said since I didn't buy it from them there was nothing they could do. They recommended I take it back to R.E.I for the THIRD TIME. R.E.I. is out of them.
I guess I'll be driving to work for awhile :(
