Take to the road and fly aboard our Novara Carema women's road bike, a sporty ride that offers plenty of performance and a women-specific geometry.

  • Aluminum frame features shaped seatstays and top tube for enhanced comfort and performance; tapered head tube improves strength and handling precision
  • Fork boasts a tapered alloy steerer with a 1-piece alloy crown for strength and stiffness where it counts; carbon legs help damp road vibrations and reduce weight
  • Carema geometry is optimized to offer a comfortable, women-specific fit
  • Shimano Sora shifters and derailleurs offer responsive shifts throughout the 27 gear combinations, enabling you to spin in the right gear for the grade
  • Tektro long-reach caliper brakes offer fender clearance and deliver dependable braking power
  • Eyelets for fenders let you outfit the Carema for wet-weather or commuting performance (fenders sold separately)
  • Replaceable rear derailleur hanger helps extend the usable life of the frame
  • Specs on our Novara Carema women's road bike are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Novara Carema Women's Bike - 2012:

I commute 15 miles a day to work and really enjoy the ride now. The bike handles my ride pretty well; there are a some good hills along the way. It's a great bike for weekend riding as well, light and fast.

I had some issues arise with the gears in the first week after purchasing, but the bike shop at the REI I purchased the bike took care of it and now it runs beautifully. Seat is a little uncomfortable but nothing really worth complaining about.

Comments about Novara Carema Women's Bike - 2012:

This was my best purchase of the year - or the decade! Wonderful light bike (lighter than my cat!), absolutelly what I needed. They say you can not buy hapiness, but you can buy a bike. That is my case. I thought I would sponteneously combust of excitement when I first rode it. It was a totally new experience for me to ride such a light and comfortable bike.
I bought it on a sale, so the value was more than good. I had looked into other brands, researched for months, but in the end, I learned that the parts of some of the top-shelf bikes are made in the same factory.
When I commuted to work on my old bike, I'd spend more than 600 calories (and I am a 5'4" woman). Now it's like 350-400 at the most, because it's so light. A pleasure to ride, puts a smile on my face and makes me want to ride forever. VIVA REI.

Comments about Novara Carema Women's Bike - 2012:

I bought this bike after returning a more upright "commuter" bike. I love riding this bike: it's fast, relatively comfortable, and really sturdy. It was hard to get used to it at first because it's so light, but that's probably because I wasn't accustomed to a road bike! I also don't much like where the brakes are positioned, bu also got used to that in about a week or so of riding it. I have not had any problems with it so far and am extremely satisfied!
