Novara Zipper Balance Bike - Boys' is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great 2nd balance bike Our twins started off with a Strider balance bike which was great for when they were between 2 and 3.5 years old. It was light weight and had a really low stand over height. When we couldn't raise the seat any further we started looking that the larger version but settled on the Novara Zipper for a few reasons: (i) the zipper's min seat height is the same as the strider's max, (ii) the real tires with more aggressive grip is perfect for the beginner trails the boys are showing interest in and (iii) it has excellent ground and leg clearance. It is a little heavier than the smaller strider, but it is a bigger bike with real components and excellent build quality. On the components, the seat on the zipper is a real padded bike seat, the seat post is pretty standard and allows the use of a different seat or saddle, the same is true of the stem allowing the use of different bars. The tires on this little frame look like the surly "Moonlander" and they provide just enough "suspension" for little one's going over roots and rocks in the trail. Plus being inflatable you can adjust for "travel" on bumpy trails or lower rolling resistance on paved trails by adding more air. I wish they offered at least two color options, but a few hand picked stickers is working to help the boys ID their "mountain bike" since the seats are at just barely different heights. I hear a lot of folks talking about just taking the pedals off a 12" bike, but we decided against that because they will then lack a place to rest their feet or to stand and the weight of a regular frame is significantly higher. In total I couldn't be happier with these bikes. Watching our boys interact with the "big bikers" at the local trails after navigating small jumps and even the teeter-totter is priceless. Moving to these bikes has really boosted their confidence and handling skills. It won't be long before I am relying on bike upgrades to keep pace with them :-)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not for under 4 At first sight relay like the bike, so I purchased it for 3 half year old nephew, the little boy liked it very much, but the bike is way to big for that age and way to heavy too, hes feet barely reach the ground when seated, and because of the heavy weight of the bike he kept loosing balance so fast. This bike is for at least a 4 years old child, the manufacturer says from 2 years old, that's not true, this bike is way to big and way to heavy for under 4.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Child's Balence bike The bike seems well enough made, It glides well reasonable well. overall it is a nice introduction to biking for a child that is just learning. In a year or so the step up to a peddle bike should be an easy transition. The specs on the box claim 3+years old, our son is 3 and is by no means short for his age but he just barley straddles the bike with the seat all the way down. As a learning tool this bike does the trick just fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great ride Great little trainer. Great quality. Advertised for two and up, but my son is three and in the 75% in height for his age and could not properly reach the ground, even at the lowest seat position. I cut the seat post down and he still can only touch with toes, which looks pretty uncomfortable. He'll grow into it....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for us My son is 5 and we just recently learned about balance bikes. He had a tricycle when he was small, and last Christmas got a 16" pedal bike with training wheels. Turns out you can't adjust the saddle height, which is completely ridiculous for a kid's bike. We did a lot of research, and I liked the idea of a balance bike, but the selection for older kids is pretty slim. I wanted a balance bike with air-filled tires, and I didn't want to spend a ton of money because I wasn't really certain how much use we will get out of it. The Novara Zipper has air-filled tires and an acceptable price point, though I was kind of hoping to find something with a hand brake. With a 17.5" minimum saddle height, it's the perfect size for my son. The handlebars and saddle height are easily adjustable with an included tool, and the bike seems to be excellent quality. My son loves it so far, and can't wait to take it to the skate park to try it on some small ramps.
