    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Deuter ACT Zero 50 + 15 Pack is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wear issue Ive had the pack out twice in a year for a total of 5 days, travelling high and light in the Sierra Nevada. Unpacking from the second trip I noticed two "wear-throughs" on the heaviest, durable fabric on the bottom of the bag. Im pretty careful with my stuff and don't drag it around, and I pack lighter softer things in the bottom of the bag. Also, each trip the pack was 35 lbs or less. I know there was some minor butt-scooting to get down granite ledges the last trip, but holes on the bottom of the bag after two short trips is very disappointing. Also, the pack could be just a little roomier to accept a bear can easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice lightweight pack This is a classic internal frame pack: clean, uncluttered design with minimal outside pockets, a floating/removable lid, and a traditional suspension. It isn't an ultralight pack, but it is light at just over 3 pounds. It's a single compartment top loading pack, with no other zippered access, so you need to use some thought when packing. However, lack of zippers helps save some weight. The pack is highly functional in use, with enough outside storage for the things you need during the day. The weight saved by eliminating gimmicky features (stow-on-the go trekking pole storage, unneccessary zippers and outside pockets, etc.) is used to beef up the suspension. The hipbelt is very well padded, and it stays put once you tighten it (no more hitching it back up as it slides down on your hips.) The weight is easily kept on the hips and off the shoulders (unless you want to take some weight on your shoulders), and it's easy to balance the load with the load stabilizer and load lifter straps. Torso length is very easy to adjust. One of the nicest features of the pack is that you can move the point where the load lifter attaches to the shoulder strap, to really fine tune the fit; most packs use a fixed connection point, with the result that the load lifter is too far forward or too far back to work effectively. All of this results in a very balanced, comfortable carry. I find that the 50 liter basic capacity is perfect for my summer load, and the 15 liter extension collar is near-perfect to hold the volume of the warmer sleeping bag and extra clothing I carry in the winter. I wish it came in green or gray, but the blue isn't as bright as shown in the picture; it's more of a dusty blue, so it's not too off-putting. All in all, there are no dazzling, glitzy features that make the pack "pop" (to borrow one of my wife's favorite HGTV words); it's just a well-designed pack that performs well day after day, and does all that is asked of it. I highly recommend it.
