I haven't gotten much time to use the coat, but I thought I would comment about the size listed on REI's website as well as conflicts on the tags while I'm thinking about it. I ordered the medium for my year old boxer since her chest measures 26" and the small was listed on the website with 22-27" and the medium was 27-32". Since she was very close and still slightly growing, I figured the medium wouldn't be much of a stretch. However, when it arrived, the length down her back was way too long. It went over her tail by a few inches (given, her tail is about three inches long, but still). However, the tag showed different sizes than listed on REI's website (which, after ordering the small, matches the sizes listed on the small).

The sizes on the medium were listed as follows:
XXS: 12-19"
XS: 17-24"
S: 23-30"
M: 27-32"
L: 31-40"
XL: 35-48".

I believe these sizes are more accurate and would've helped me choose the small instead of the medium the first time around. The small is perfect! And she definitely has room to grow around her chest, which is nice. The end of the coat ends an inch or two shy of her rear end. It hasn't gotten cold enough yet, but considering she already seems to love it, I'm very excited! She shook last year during the winter and we're going to be outside even more this winter! (I also used the reviews from those in other colder regions to help my choice.)

I purchase many "cheaper" coats and thought I could find something as good for cheaper. After purchasing many different brands and returning them I finally purchased knowing I could return. It worked perfect!!! The other coats didn't fit my dogs deep belly and shallow back half. The ruff wear jacket adjusted on the sides to fit and had elastic for extra give. My dog Winston loves this coat! I was worried about it restricting his movements as he loves to run. After him being hesitant about putting it on he forgot about it as soon as he was outside. It keeps him from getting burrs and other brush in his wire coat and the red helps me see him when we strays all while keeping him warm and dry! I am thrify, but find the extra money for this coat well justified!

My dog wore this jacket everyday during the cold central oregon winters. It is very water repellant and easy to wash. It's still in great condition and I'm sure we'll get much more use out of it next winter too! The adjustable elastic chest works great with my boxer's large chest. We love all things Ruff Wear but this jacket is simply AWESOME!

I am a big fan of Ruff Wear and own a lot of their products. For the first time, I have to admit that I was disappointed with this product. I just came back from Prescott, AZ from a camping trip. This coat did not keep my dog, Elvis, warm. It was 46 degrees and he was literally shaking he was so cold. :( I would try another coat if you plan on going to a location where it's around the same temp. It is a very nice coat. The material is high quality (I wouldn't expect less from Ruff Wear). It's a great coat for a quick walk or around the house.

My dog loves this jacket! As soon as he sees me break it out of his RuffWear pack, he gets excited and tries to stick his head in before I am ready for him to do so.

It is fairly water resistant and keeps my little buddy warm.
