The Hi-Tec Jackson Hole 400 Winter boots provide superior traction on slippery surfaces and excellent warmth when the temperature drops.

Uppers are constructed of waterproof suede leather and mesh for long-term performance; textile linings wick away moisture for all-day comfort

The first time I wore these, I felt like they were a bit loose, so I pulled on the laces to tighten them up. One of the loops that hold the laces came loose. I then did the same with the other boot and had two(!) of the loops come loose on that boot.

If a single loop on a single boot had come loose, I would have assumed that I had just gotten unlucky, but sine it happened with 3 loops on 2 different boots, I can only assume that there is a general design defect with these boots, and would discourage anyone from purchasing them.

Needless to say, REI had no problem exchanging them for a different pair (Yay! REI guarantee!)

Great boots -- especially when compared to (3) others from different manufacturers and websites (which I've returned). These were only about $90, the cheapest by far of all the others.I like that they have speed laces at the top (lace hooks, versus holes all the way up on other models which make lacing up difficult). They go on & off fast, and I can get them just as tight as I want them in the lower and upper boot areas. They seem very well made and fit quite well. Maybe a little narrow, but otherwise perfect. I'm sure they will pack out and be fine. Very little break in will be required.I wear 9.5 street shoe and ordered a size 10. They're fine with medium or heavy socks. On my scale they weigh 49 ounces, which is VERY lightweight for winter boots.And they arrived in TWO DAYS from order date. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN REI !!! Best gear, best prices, best shipping, as always.

Bought a pair for my husband and as he was trying them out the loop for the laces ripped. The boots look like they are good quality but the loop type that they used seemed to be defective. I have a pair of Hi-Tecs that I have used for 2 winters and they are the most comfortable boots I have had. I was disappointed that my husbands broke as he was trying them out. I did not try to buy a new pair since I read another customer had had the same issue.
