If you must buy this, use it in an area you are familiar with first. Extremely short battery life. Once you have set your specifications, you have used half the battery. When if comes time to replace the battery, you get to do it all over again. Taking this back.

Received the ReTrace Deluxe as a Christmas gift and wanted to share my initial thoughts on this really cool GPS device. It's a bummer Celestron didn't include a manual, but it's available to download from their website so no biggie there. What I really like about this product is that I do a lot of walking, so it allows me to set waypoints and off I go. When I'm ready to return to a starting point, I select a waypoint and use the trail mode and reTrace leads me right back to where I started. Amazing! The compass worked really well but you do need to calibrate it before you use it. I can see how this type of device would be useful to find where you parked your car at a fair or at a large sporting event. I think many people will hate to admit they've been in that sticky situation before, including myself. I think it's a cool gift and I'm satisfied with what it can do. I know this device has many more functions, but since I'm on my winter vacation, I have all the time in the world.
