Comments about Black Diamond Factor 110 Randonee Boots - Men's - 2011/2012:
Note, this review is for Factor 130 boots, not the 110. However they look to be very similar. I got these at the end of last season and when I first tried them on it was a struggle just getting my foot into them. Then they seemed pretty tight. But after I did my own heat molding treatment of the liners, they were easier to get on. After wearing them a few times they are now pretty comfortable. I wear very thin ski socks and my feet stay toasty warm. The walk/ski switch is a little tough to operate with gloves on but that's my only complaint.
Service and delivery comments:
I wanted to adjust the forward lean to a more upright position so I checked the instructions. It said to use the included second set of angle guides, but when I checked the box there weren't any. A quick email to REI customer service and within 2 hours they replied that they had contacted Black Diamond warranty dept and they were shipping me the missing angle guides. Great customer service on both REI and Black Diamond's part.

Comments about Black Diamond Factor 110 Randonee Boots - Men's - 2011/2012:
I had this boot for about 1.5 seasons, overall it was okay. I liked the tour/Walk mode and it was stiff. Still it was uncomfortable even though I brought it in about 4 times to get it stretched, adjusted, moulded or whatever. No big deal though, I was happy enough with it.
Then today I am shooting down a backcountry slope and the entire toe piece ripped out (remember, these are removable), sending me into a tree (a small tree, but still a tree). My knee/leg is killing me right now, as the remaining ski went on one side of the tree and my body went on the other. Also one of my ski poles was snapped in half (also black diamond - but I had these poles for 17 years, they rocked).
Toe pieces should not rip out of the boot, I consider this a design flaw and a dangerous one at that. Removable heel pieces? Never again!!!!!
