Comments about Salomon Ranger RE Snow Helmet - Men's - 2011/2012:

Well, I already feel like I got my money's worth with this helmet after going out just a couple of times. I'm fairly novice - I've gone snowboarding about 7 or 8 times. This being the case, I am not doing super risky jumps or anything like that.
However, this past weekend, I was snowboarding and had a head-over-heels tumble at a decent speed coming around a downhill turn. Boy was I glad to have a helmet that fit well. While I probably sustained a minor concussion from hitting my head pretty hard, I'm sure that it was much less impact than with a poorly-fitting helmet.
To be clear, I've found that I'm in between a small and a medium in many helmets, so these tend to run small (I believe I have a medium). I didn't want to rate it as "feels half a size too small", because it fits excellently and may just be a helmet that fits many well. You'll have to try it yourself to see. However, it's extremely comfortable.
I also really like the switch on top that lets you open the top a little to get some airflow, which has been useful with this warm winter. It's easy to flip back and forth even with bulky gloves on.
