Being a once/twice a year skiier, I don't get as many chances to test out equipment as I would like. Last year, I tried out a Giro G10 helmet, that works, but didn't fit my head quite right, so I sent it back to REI after a day on the slopes. This year, I found this Smith helmet and decided to give it a try. When I first tried it on, The rear attachment point for the fitting system was bothering me. It's shaped into the helmet, but it sticks out just enough to be bothersome, or so I thought. After 2.5 days on the mountain, I don't recall thinking about that spot once. Ventilation was good, even with most of the plugs in, keeping my head warm in the -5 degree temps on top of the mountain in the morning and allowing me to stay comfortable when it was in the 20's and sunny in the lift lines.
The only 2 downsides to this helmet are the bulk (I have a large head already, and this only compounded the problem) and the fur-esque lining, which I didn't like.
For the price, this helmet is hard to beat, especially when I only get to ski 2-5 days a year.

I am getting back into skiing after ten years. I never used a helmet before but I am surprised how light and well fitting this helmet is on me. Fits Smith glasses perfectly and passed the crash test!

Amazing helmet for the price. Comfortable, easily adjustable and well ventilated. The liner in this helmet is great. I replaced my Giro G10 with this helmet and have not been dissapointed, particularly since this helmet is considerably cheaper. This skid lid has to be one of the best bargains for your head.
