Comments about REI Acme Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I put these pants through the wringer while snowshoeing this winter in the Wasatch Mtns of Utah, and they were great. On several long snowshoe trips in snowy and windy conditions, friends advised me to wear hardshell pants. But I went ahead and wore these and they did not let me down. They breathe like a charm, fabric does not fray with abrasion and use, wet snow does not wet out or penetrate them, and even wallowing in deep snow these pants kept me dry. I should have bought 2 pair.

Bought this to use during cold weather cycling and have ended up using them for so much more. I go geocaching with the kids a lot and now always wear these pants when I do because of how durable they are. Climbing up the side of a rock face to find the next cache and the pants have enough flex not to get in the way.

I bought these for snowshoeing. These pants were pretty comfortable, and fit just right. Plus, they also kept me warm out there in the snow. I liked the lightweight, stretchy material. I would buy them again!

Comments about REI Acme Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
When I purchase a pair of pants, their ability to stretch when I crouch is very important. Most pants need to be pulled at the knee as soon as you start to bend over. From a full upright position, I can drop my rear into a horse stance with my butt lower than my knees before I feel to need to adjust these pants. They are stain resistant and very comfortable. I highly suggest them.

I have worn these pants every weekend since I purchased them. I volunteer for a bike patrol on weekends on a local tow path and with cycle briefs these are awesome! They shed water and mud and are warm but not "too" warm. I only wish I could get other colors than "Coal" and I would buy 2 more pair.

I really like these pants. The material and construction are a step up from the Mistral pants. I used them for three days of XC skiing in New Hampshire and they were great with temperatures in the low 20's. I look forward to wearing them for hiking and fishing.

Comments about REI Acme Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
First off let me say that these pants are awesome!!! Perhaps some of the most comfortable and versatile pants I've owned. That being said, these are not made for tall people. Why REI chose not to offer these in a 34" inseam I don't know. Even though I love the pants, I had to return them because I felt like I was wearing capris! REI please make these available in a longer version next year!!!!!!!

Comments about REI Acme Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
Love these pants. They have become my favorite pants I own. I have had them for a little over a year now and I seem to wear them more and more to the point that I am definitely purchasing a second pair. I wear these pants every chance I get when the weather is cooler (except when out with the girlfriend - she hates the look of these pants). I wore them to work one day (manager for a grocery store) and I swear I was able to move and work 2 times faster not having to worry about dress pants getting in the way. I would wear these everyday to work if I could get around the dress code.
For fall, winter, and early spring hiking/biking/walking/snowshoeing these pants are the best! I even wear them sledding here in colorado when the snow starts building. I recommend these pants to be worn in temperatures below 45degrees due to the excellent warmth. The wind resistance is the best feature when out hitting the terrain.
I wear these while climbing 14ers when the temperature is below 20 degrees and they work perfectly with a simple mid-weight base layer for those cold summits.
I've been machine washing/drying these pants for over a year now and the DWR finish is still holding strong (I've washed them in a DWR detergeant solution once since purchase).
Durability - can we say look brand new!?!
Love these pants!

Comments about REI Acme Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I own a pile of softshell pants from Arcteryx, OR, Mtn Hardware, Salomon, Cloudveil, Patagonia.... you name it, and these REI Acme pants are my #1 favorite go-to pants for hiking and hill country XC skiing. The material is just a bit thicker, warmer, and more wind resistant than your typical shoftshell, so I mainly use these pants for fall/winter/spring pursuits (I use the slightly lighter REI Mistral pants in the summer). The fit is athletic with a nice, non-restrictive cut. The knee articulation is just right with narrow, straight legs. The material has enough stretch that even though they are relatively form fitting it doesn't bind, and it holds it shape perfectly with no bagging or getting saggy with age (mine are 2 years old).
All that said, there are areas that could be improved. The thigh pocket could be moved to the side of the leg (but not moved lower) and given a bias cut so that it fits a slightly larger item. As it stands, I can slip a very light hat in there or a small map, but not much else. The rear pockets have a silly, thick material flap over the zipper which adds bulk that can be uncomfortable under a heavy pack. The women's version has very low profile rear zippers. Why not the men's? The velcro at the ankle is useless if you hike through any brush. It opens and just flaps around. Plus snow gets in the velcro and it never sticks again. Use a strong/positive snap instead. I'd love to see a nice integrated webbing belt and lose the current belt loops.
Otherwise a great, great product. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.
