Salomon Malamute snowboard boots deliver unparalleled comfort, fit and support for the most aggressive riders. Malamute boots are the stiffest in the Salomon lineup to energize every action.

    • Built-in asymmetric flex provides increased response and natural mobility by combining a rigid, high lateral panel and a low, softened medial panel
    • Power liners are custom-moldable from calves to toes and feature additional ankle inserts for increased foothold and control
    • Liners feature removable heel/ankle inserts for an increased supportive lock around ankles
    • Salomon Malamute boots have conformable molded footbeds that provide foot stabilization and arch support for improved pressure distribution
    • Anatomic power-frame shells provide lateral support for direct transmission of power through boot soles
    • Removable Energizer bars located just inside the upper shells allow you to personalize the flex; use none, one or both of the bars
    • Powerlace Pro soft lacing system offers fluid, 1-pull tightening and secure lock-down for a natural flex and feel; zonal tightening offers a personalized fit
    • Spring outsoles enhance power transmission, cushioning and board feel; they're softer where your feet flex and stiffer on the sides for increased stability

Average weight specification is per pair, based on size 27.5.

Comments about Salomon Malamute Snowboard Boots - 2011/2012:

I used these boots for about 250 days on the mountain and enjoyed their durability. They are pretty stiff which is great for carving or going 60mph. However if you want some boots for use in the park, forget it. Not to mention they are interesting to hike in due to the stiffness. The only reason I got new boots was the laces snapped.

Comments about Salomon Malamute Snowboard Boots - 2011/2012:

I've been riding a pair of Burton Mission's for a few years -Probably about 60-80 days on the mountain and was looking to finally upgrade to a stiffer and more solid boot. The Salomon Malamute fit the bill and I'm happy with it so far!

Compared to my size 10 Missions, the Malamutes are exactly the same length (in spite of Burton's claims to reduce their footprint.) The Malamutes also weigh 0.4 pounds less per pair according to my bathroom scale. They feel stiffer and more solid than the Missions - though one of Burton's higher end boots like the Ion would probably have more comparable flex.

However, I went with the Salomon this time because of their lacing system. The Salomon lacing is great. You can make these boots more snug than any boa system that I've tried on. The laces lock into upper and lower lugs on the side of the boot so there is no knots to tie, and since the laces are external it won't take hours to replace a lace if (when) they break. I've had to replace 3 of the 4 speed laces over the life of my Burtons, and even though Burton will send a new lace for free, they're a royal pain to install.
