I hike all the time and ordered these gaiters in S/M. I am a woman with a 8.5-9 shoe size. They said they would be in the color gray but ended up in black. They are very tight around the delta Keen hiking boot and lower leg and I have small calves. The string that goes under the boot could have been designed as a strap but it is low grade and short. Other than that they are a really nice gaiter. I will return for the L/XL

I purchased these sweet gaitors for a recent 8 day backpacking trip. They're made of a very durable stetchy softshell material. Contrary to the description they're about as water proof as you can get. I held them under running water and it just ran off of them. I used these in conjuction with some low top merrell hikers and they worked out perfectly, keeping my socks clean and debris from entering my shoes. I'm going to use them in the snow this season as well. Overall I'm totally happy with these gaitors.
