Comments about Atlas 1027 Elektra Snowshoes - Women's:
This is the first time I'd ever gone snowshoeing and had a great experience with these snowshoes! I didn't take advantage of the heel-lift bar, but I'm sure it will be helpful on longer treks. So far so good!

Comments about Atlas 1027 Elektra Snowshoes - Women's:
I was looking for a narrow profile, women's style snowshoe. This Atlas pair fit the bill with a tapered shape to avoid walking with a wide, unnatural gait. It has good traction with extra "teeth" and the televators are perfect for uphill terrain. I am disappointed with the length, however; I could use a 25" pair or even smaller. I am not crazy about the bindings either, but they stay put and are easy on/off. Although it sounds petty, these snowshoes kick snow onto my rear end as I walk. The snow kicks back less in fresh powder, but it is otherwise an annoying trait. I will be taking these back for a MSR women's brand.

Comments about Atlas 1027 Elektra Snowshoes - Women's:
We had an older set of Atlas snowshoes so we thought we would upgrade to a more recent version. These looked good but.... The "easy" binding did not stay closed. They were too easy to hit with the opposing shoe and this opened them up and loosened the shoe. Also the rubber of the shoe binding was too stiff for the temperature range of use. The old shoes had a silicone rubber like binding that stayed flexible at low temperatures which is exactly when you use snow shoes!!! They also tened to flop for lack of a better word as you walked. This was especially irritating on groomed trails. The "old" Atlas shoes did not do this. We returned these shoes and went back to the old ones which performed much better even with duck tape to patch them up!!

Comments about Atlas 1027 Elektra Snowshoes - Women's:
I love these snowshoes! This is the type of investment you make once and it lasts a really long time, too. And the heel lift is a great feature! The first time I used them I had an issue with snow getting kicked up and falling into my boot. The second time I wore my gaiters and the issue was solved! The guys at REI were so helpful in recommending the best snowshoe based on my activities. Something they mentioned to keep in mind before you purchase is that you can always go snowshoeing in snowshoes for terrain less difficult than the features of the snowshoe but you can't snowshoe up - meaning you can't use flat terrain snowshoes for a rolling terrain kinda hike. If you think there's a chance at all that you will snowshoeing in more challenging terrain then go for the rolling terrain snowshoe. It's worth the investment!

Comments about Atlas 1027 Elektra Snowshoes - Women's:
I have only used these snowshoes once so far. They were easy to walk in, and the climbing bar was great for going up steep hills. They do kick up snow and I would imagine that would get worse the more powdery the snow. For me it was not too much of an issue. My foot stayed in place on the left snowshoe. On the right, however, the heel strap loosened up a bit. Maybe I didn't have it latched securely. I'll pay closer attention next time and see if it happens again. Otherwise, I think they were good.

Comments about Atlas 1027 Elektra Snowshoes - Women's:
The snowshoes themselves are fine. While they didn't provide spectacular, memorable results they also didn't provide a horrible experience either.
On my first use the clip that holds the straps snapped off while I was snowshoeing. This happened on both shoes--on the first time I used them. Had I been harsh or abrasive or run into something that might have weakened them I would understand why it broke off easily.
I used them again and tried to work around the missing clips. On one side, the missing clip holds down the 'laces' that tighten the shoes around your foot. It wasn't too much of a problem not having the clip. The other shoe was a problem. The clip was missing from the ankle strap. After tightening the strap it was long and did not stay tucked under the strap. It was a constant tripping hazard while walking.
I do not have a complaint about the design of the snow shoe. They seem to do a good job. My complaint and concern is with the craftsmanship of the shoe. It seems to be made with cheap parts that easily give out.
