Comments about Oboz Beartooth BDry Hiking Boots - Men's:
Best darn boots I ever owned. Took only a mile or so and they formed and fit me like a glove. Right after that took them on a short? 10mi hike in the Tetons and these things gave me support and comfort I never new. Better than Vasque that I was used to . Thinking about buying a second pair and just keeping them on hand if and when these wear out.

Comments about Oboz Beartooth BDry Hiking Boots - Men's:
This is an excellent boot and one I wear all day nearly every day as my work involves office and field locations. The fit in-store was perfect although I felt they were a bit stiffer than what I expected; the break-in takes about one week of wearing every day covering approximately 16miles in my particular case and now they are perfect.
The fit is phenomenal and the ankle support (twists on uneven pavement) has already saved me from a potential sprain. Wearing them for 14hrs per day has not caused sore feet as happens with boots made more for light-load comfort. Having good support, especially torsional support, is obviously essential in a serious hiking boot and this one truly delivers. My heels never slip and it is obvious a lot of thought went into the design. I have not been on any long distance hikes with these Beartooth boots yet, but I have logged a few 6 mile trail hikes and they are warm, waterproof and provide terrific traction even in the mud. Would I expect these to work well on a long distance cross-country hike? I suspect they would!
If you are expecting a super-light ready to walk boot, the Beartooth is not what you want out-of-the-box. However, if you have the temperament to do some proper break-in walks and are a bigger guy like me (220lbs) who typically carries a lot of gear in the field, the Beartooth will reward you many times over. I liken them to the old-school heavy duty leather hikers of the past that took a long time to break-in, but these break-in fast by comparison, are lighter, more abrasion resistant, fully waterproof (tested them) and SO MUCH more comfortable to wear all the time than any other heavy duty hiker I've had. I also have a pair of Oboz Sawtooth shoes that are holding up well after two years of casual use, so I expect the Beartooth to easily go that distance or more under heavy use. Highly recommended!

Comments about Oboz Beartooth BDry Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have been looking for years for a pair of boots to carry heavy loads with for winter camping. I need the boots to be comfy, waterproof, lightweight, and have good traction. The Beartooths do all of that. I had the boots broken in and ready to hike in less than 2 weeks. They come with a very nice footbed with good support and the back half of the boot is leather lined which is super nice. The boots also have a lacing technique that keep your heel in place which has been a problem with other boots that I have owned. It's not the most important thing to me but the boots look good, they are not brown like every other pair I've owned since 1989. I am very impressed with this pair of boots and will try Oboz again when it's time for a new pair.

Comments about Oboz Beartooth BDry Hiking Boots - Men's:
I bought my last pair of boots 6 years ago and wore them down to the point of wholes in the creases. I spent the last year looking for a boot I could go long distances in snow, rain, and heat. I didn't realize there was a boot I could take on their first adventure and not feel a breaking in period. The Beartooths were wonderful the first trip and every trip since. Living in the mountains I am in need of a boot to get me through the harsh winters, abrupt rainfalls and the terrain that comes along with it. The grip of the Beartooth is wonderful on all surfaces whether it's snow, wet rock, mud, or a well beaten path. If I haven't made it clear enough yet...I LOVE THIS BOOT!

Comments about Oboz Beartooth BDry Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have been looking for a good solid Backpacking boot and I have tried on many different brands, but I just hadn't found the right one, until now. The Beartooth lacing system really locks my heel into the back of the boot and allows for no slippage, even out of the box. I just got these boots and I can't wait for the leather lining to conform to my foot so they become slipper like. I do believe this is one of the best boots and look forward to this boot breaking in. It tends to be a little heavy compared to the others I have tried on but the fit and comfort make up for it. I am really impressed with Oboz boots.

I read the reviews on the site and decided to give these boots a try. Do the same you will not be disappointed. Very good boot at any price. Keeps my feet warm/dry even during this crazy snow storm!

Fantastic fit and comfort right out of the box. If you are used to lighter weight hikers, these will feel a little stiff and heavy. If, however, you are like me and used to the old-school heavy duty backpacking hiking boots, these will feel like nearly nothing on your feet. Relatively light weight and extremely comfortable.

Comments about Oboz Beartooth BDry Hiking Boots - Men's:
Based my purchase on reviews from REI site. Purchased the boot, wore them for two weeks thinking that would be a good break in period. Boy was I WRONG, did a backpacking trip to Big Ben National Park and the boot did not meet up to my expectations. The boot did not give at all and remained stiff. The boot caused bruising above my left ankle and almost ruined my trip. The shoe was stiff on the right places; however, the stiffness in the ankle area was not forgiven. Was happy with the traction the boot provided and I think I would have kept them if the high ankle area was not so stiff. REI did take them back and I am trying a different brand.

Great boot but having a hard time breaking them in. The fit is great but tends to rub on the heal. I went on a 4 mile hike yesterday and used a silk liner and light hiker sock. That seemed to make a difference. I love the boot so much I am willing to try different things to make them work!

Great ankle support! A very solid boot that (for me) has a great fit. Be sure that you give it enough break-in time (I didn't).
