Comments about Timbuk2 Swig Cycling Backpack:

I've used this pack for my 15 mile round trip commute year round and it has some definite pros and cons.

It does have a large internal volume and the laptop compartment, which is really just a nylon sleeve with a piece of foam on bottom, will accommadate a 17" laptop with ease. I don't even need to remove the battery. It will easily fit a computer, change of clothes and lunch.

Despite its raw internal volume, it suffers from a lack of pockets. There is no good place to keep a pump, tube, lights, keys, etc.. There is only one zippered pocket and it holds little more than a wallet. Quickly retrieving a rain coat is cumbersome due to the single large flap.

The bag is very waterproof but I have noticed one flaw. The pack pulls away from the top of your shoulders when you lean over your handlebars. When it rains the back can get wet this way. I wouldn't haul my computer too far in the rain due to this.

Furthermore, when the pack is full the straps must be tightened to an absurd length to feel stable. I bought two nylon straps from REI and made a sternum and waist strap to address this. It is much more manageable now.
