Comments about Saucony ProGrid Kinvara 2 Road-Running Shoes - Men's:
I've been trying to switch to a forefoot strike from a heel strike. Minimalist running shoes seem to be the best way to get there. My old shoes were Nike Zoom Vomero which have a really cushy heel and feel great if you are a heel striker.
But I've realized that heel striking just slows you down since you are braking on every stride.
The Kinvara's have only a 4mm difference in thickness between the front and back, making it much easier to land on your forefoot.
I tried the Nike Free 2+, which are super flexible, but they have a 7mm difference between front and back and less padding than the Kinvara's. The Nike's also have less rubber on the sole, so the Kinvara's should be more durable.
For long races, the extra padding of the Kinvara's is helpful as your stride inevitably breaks down.
The Kinvara's are super light, even lighter than the Nike Free 2+.

Comments about Saucony ProGrid Kinvara 2 Road-Running Shoes - Men's:
Upon reading all of the glowing reviews on the Saucony Kinvara 2 running shoe, I recently purchased a pair and could hardly wait to try them out. I'm an Ironman triathlete, and in off training, I run about 25 -30 miles a week, more when I'm in training. I'm a nutral runner, and I've always run on the balls of my feet, so transitioning from heel striking to forefoot striking is not an issue for me. Right out of the box, one will notice two things about these shoes; they look fast, and they feel super light. Then came the fit test. I really, really want to like these shoes, however, I've never worn a pair of shoes with such high arch support; this was a problem I noticed from the very moment I tried these shoes on. This shoe is described as being a nutral running shoe, but that obviously is not true, as a nutral running shoe does not come with high arch support. By definition, if you are a nutral runner, then you have nutral arches; not low arches; not high arches; nutral arches. I might be able to manage running in these shoes for up to 10k races, but I'm not sure how comfortable they would be on my arches. On the plus side, the cushioning in these shoes, particularly for being a minimal shoe, is has good as any training shoe I've worn. Also, Saucony, as well as many reviewers on other sites, states that the Kinvara 2 runs large by 1/2 a size, and they recommend getting a 1/2 size smaller then you normally would. So, when I placed my order, I ordered two pairs; one in my normal size, and one in a 1/2 size smaller than normal. For me, the normal size fit perfect, space wise. The 1/2 size smaller was too narrow and tight. As for recommending this shoe, again, I really want to like this shoe and I hope Saucony will correct the high arch support in the Kinvara 3, but for now, if one needs a light weight running shoe with higher arch support, then this is the perfect running shoe, but, if high arch support isn't something one needs in their running shoe, then sadly, this otherwise wonderful shoe is not the shoe for you. Oddly, this isn't a flaw that I've read about in any reveiws of this shoe. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Comments about Saucony ProGrid Kinvara 2 Road-Running Shoes - Men's:
I ran about five races last year, including two halfs and a full marathon. I have run on Kinvaras exclusively for a year and love them. For trails, I run in the very similar Saucony Peregrine.
The Kinvara shoe's highly breathable mesh can be easily penetrated by dust and water. Beware puddles and dirt. This is a logical sacrifice for a light and breathable shoe.
If you have arch issues, I'd recommend trying these. Caution though-- start with shorter distances than you are used to and consider shorter yet quicker strides. This should reduce impact and allow your feet to adapt to less cushion, building stronger arches.

Comments about Saucony ProGrid Kinvara 2 Road-Running Shoes - Men's:
I got this shoe because the previous article made it sound perfect. I tried it on and it seemed to fit, but after about 2 miles into my first run my arches began screaming. I was forefoot striking and this shoe seemed to add extra stress onto my arches. I would not recommend this if you have had any arch problems before.
