Of the three styles of smartwool socks I got at REI, these are my least favorite. I got them because they are tall, thinking they would cover my knees well when I walk outside in a skirt, but alas, the tops are not up to the task. The foot portion fits perfectly. Although the calf portion is difficult to pull on, reminding me of what compression socks must feel like, the top portion gets saggy after a while and is better turned down. I am 5'6" and 132 lbs, with 13.5" calves. If you are shorter and skinnier these may work well for you!

They are attractive socks, but they are not long enough to cover the knee as shown in the picture. I am 5'6'' with very slim legs, and they actually did not sag as much as other tall socks I own. They have an awkward, thin, cuff-thing at the top which fits very loose compared to the rest of the sock. It kind of looks funny and I didn't know what to do with it so I just bunched it beneath my knee. The second time I tried to wear them, two rather large holes appeared mysteriously in the cuff-thing by the end of the day (which was spent mostly sitting at a desk). This is my third item from smartwool this season that I will be returning due to very poor performance (thank you, REI, for standing behind your products). In the past I have been a very happy and loyal smartwool customer. I am wondering if the smartwool brand has not gotten too big for its britches and is sacrificing quality to churn out higher quantities of trendy stuff.
