I'm a daily bike commuter in the Pacific Northwest and live on the edge of the rain forest, which means I need seriously waterproof rain pants. These fit the bill, and are extremely well made. The only problem I have with them is that they're a bit long in the legs, but that's more because I'm short and stocky than a fault of the pants.

The last pair of Novara rain-pants I got lasted me 5 years, so when they finally started leaking and my sister asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I told her to get these. I do admire the fit, the reflective stripe on the side, the inseam panel for articulated movement. The one thing that I find wrong with it is that the ankle zips are in the back of the leg, from calf to ankle. The problem with this is that when one wants ventilation and keeps them unzipped, they let water and dirt from the rear wheel in. My last pair of rain pants by Novara had the zips on the outer seam and these were great for ventilation: I wore them in downpours and water never creeped into the un- zippered opening. I wonder why they changed it and if any cyclists were ever consulted or if any of the designers ever rain-tested it themselves? Oh well. Still a good product and very comfortable.

I had to buy xxlarge to get the movement and the inseam of a xlarge pair the inseams needs to be longer. when your legs are bent the pant leg comes up over your shoe covers . They need to make the inseam longer by an inch to two inchs longer.

Short inseam and large waist make for a very poor fit for cycling clothing. Bunching in the seat gets caught on the saddle. I would only recomend these to a short and stocky individual. I am going to return these as soon as I can get back to REI.
