The majority of the reviewers seem to use this jacket as a casual "going out" hoodie. I bought it for the same reason, until I got it out on a trail. I've beat the hell out of mine over the last four months and it has worked its way to being my go to jacket when hitting a hard trail. I don't worry about snagging on branches, and it breathes almost too well. Not to mention it fits perfectly under a tighter / shorter cut rain jacket like the arteryx alpha sl. I gave it 4 stars because of the cost.

The hoodie looks great, and is super comfortable to wear. It packs really well, and is a lot warmer than the typical cotton hoodie. Strong wind goes right through it, but as a casual piece of clothing it is great.

[$] for a hoodie....Really? When I bought it the price was [$] and not on sale. Anyway it looks good and is soft. Doesn't really block the wind. Works good as a second layer under a shell. Pocket zippers have snagged the inside of the sleeves and caused a couple of nasty thread pulls. I keep the pocket zippers closed now. Another gripe is that when this hoodie is fully zipped up and the hood is not worn it pulls the top of the zipper up into your neck and is a bit uncomfortable. If this hoodie was priced in the 40.00 range it "might" be worth it but at [$] save your money and get something else.

I wear this around the house mostly, though I think it'd be a good fleece for the trail. Just one quibble. If the pockets are not zipped closed, the fabric of the sleeves catches the teeth of the zipper and you get a nasty pull. I've had this item a week and the insides of the arms look quite worn already from the pulling. I keep the pockets zipped now, so the problem is solved, unless you wish to keep the pockets open for frequent hand-warming, which is what I'd prefer to do. That said, I'm not returning this. Very warm and comfortable, and nice styling.

This jacket is very warm and soft! I haven't washed it yet but the rumor is that is gets even softer... I hope that it shrinks a touch. The medium fit my chest and waist but the sleeves were too short for my long arms (if I wanted to use the thumb holes). The stitching seems very sturdy and well made, the zippers don't seem as if they are to the same standard but I haven't had any issues yet. Because I'm a member, I'm not too worried about the zippers because I know I can get it replaced. One downside is that since the hood is one piece and the collar is high, even in the front. When the jacket is unzipped, it can filet open and look a bit feminine. It sort of lays awkwardly on the shoulders, I will include a photo once I get a chance.

I was looking for a great hanging out hoodie to wear everyday in the cold spells that had solid technical fabric credentials but didn't look technical (e.g. I wear work out clothes enough, I'd rather not wear them or at least look like/feel like I'm wearing them when I'm not working out). This fits that bill perfectly. It's warm, functional, fits really well, and looks great.

It's not a "protect you from all elements" piece (don't think it was ever intended as such), it probably will still keep you warm if wet, but I don't ever plan on wearing this on any kind of athletic adventure (too nice :).

It looks great, is wear-all-day-all-night-every-day comfortable.

I'm not the tallest guy or the shortest guy, have average length arms, but my arms are thick and my chest and shoulders are def. classify me in "athletic fit" for garments (I can't even wear some brands period the proportions are so bad) - I went with a L and it doesn't seem too long (common issue for me), the sleeves are *perfect*, although it is because I *love* using the thumb holes which necessitates longer sleeves. If I didn't/don't - the sleeves would be uber long on me and I'd probably need to wear more like an S or a M. Being an L it's a bit loose in the stomach/gut area (it's assuming I'm bigger there, too), but it's cut athletically, so it's not at all noticeable, and actually makes it more comfortable (e.g. it's not form fitting - nice to relax in - but also not "frumpy").

My new favorite "wear it all the time until girlfriend hates seeing it" kinda thing.

I bought this as a casual jacket for trips to the beach and cool evenings in Southern California. It's thicker and warmer than a traditional lightweight hoodie. I have a Kuhl sweater which is made similarly that I love. This didn't disappoint. While it's not the best at stopping the wind, I didn't really buy it for that. The "rough wool-style" fleece is very warm and really comfortable. I had to buy a large because of my build (I lift weights regularly) which was roomy enough but still a little snug in the shoulders and because I'm only 5'4", the sleeves were a tad long. It's worth suggesting that you'll actually want the sleeves a little long to effectively use the thumb holes. While I've always appreciated this feature in the Kuhl sweaters, it does have a slight feminine feel to it - a fact I quickly forget on cold days. Having said all of this, one of the most positive features of this jacket is it's overall aesthetic. It is simply an awesome looking hoodie. Different, simple but also very stylish. Other features worth mentioning are the roomy pockets (traditional fronts as well as one in the upper left bicep). For [$], it was pricey for me but less than what I actually expected from a Kuhl jacket. Overall, a wonderful hoodie that I plan on using a lot.
