Comments about Hi-Tec Total Terrain Mid WP Hiking Boots - Kids':
Bought these for my five year old son and I must say that they are definitely more a boot for kids to wear to "look the part". I had researched....and hope they would suffice. Last summer on our backpacking trip his feet got soaked - which I attributed to a freak storm and no gaiters. Then yesterday we summited Mt. St. Helens in PERFECT weather and at the top his feet were soaked (wearing gaiters and rain pants). Luckily improvised a solution using a black garbage bag and new socks to make the decent tolerable. Summary - great for a hike around Discovery Park...these are now sitting soaking wet...in my garbage.

My 10-year old son really likes this shoe because it's so comfortable. As mom, I also really like it, because I know it's made well and the sewing and fabric will last long -- plus, the color is just right (grey and fluorescent green)!
Another thing I think might be handy later, is that the shoes have special soles that are removable. The manufacturer calls it the "Big Fit System". If my son wants a little extra room, or wants to wear thicker socks, we can always remove that extra lining. For now I like it because I know it makes it a tight and snug fit for my son's foot and provides extra padding.
It's also water resistant! It also has a small "toe-guard" made out of a black (matte) rubber, in the front of the shoe -- and it keeps the front area of the shoe fabric from looking too frayed after a while. It's a great fit, and it's comfortable enough for everyday use - he does EVERYTHING in it! The soles are non-marking, so when he wears it indoors to an indoor basketball court, I don't have to worry about him marking up the floor.
He's been wearing it for a month now, and we have absolutely no complaints!

I bought the boots for my son before a two day campout with the scouts. We probably walked 7-8 miles over the course of the day, and no complaints from him at all. It rained Saturday night and his feet were warm and dry after a long wet hike back to the tent. They are light weight boots that have pretty flexible soles, so he felt right at home in them.

Comments about Hi-Tec Total Terrain Mid WP Hiking Boots - Kids':
I bought these boots about four months ago after looking for hiking boots for a long time. I'm a 5'0 adult who has very small and fairly wide feet, and I am choosy about buying shoes of good quality. These boots are awesome. I wear them on my daily 1 hr public transit commute and I've worn them on 5 mile hikes and in rain and snow. These boots are very warm, comfortable, and durable. They are on the wider side, which is nice for thicker socks. My one critique is that they took some time to break in. Seeing as how well these are made, it was worth it. Summary: these boots definitely live up to Hi-Tec's brand promise.
