        My 4-and a half-year-old grandson loved these from the moment the REI staff member brought them out. Luckily, they fit well and have performed well. We've now taken three hikes of 3 hours each over rough terrain and crossing two creeks each time. The boots perfumed well, even when his foot slipped into water on a couple of occasions. They've definitely increased his enthusiasm for hiking. He's had a great time on each hike and is asking when we can go again. The lacing takes a bit of attention, so they're not easy on and off, but they're secure on his feet, which is the more important consideration for hiking boots.

        After I bought these I discovered a tag that said in the state of California there was something in these shoes that has been linked to cancer. I haven't been able to find anyting on the web about it yet.

            I have two boys and these boots have become our basic winter shoe. We live in Colorado where there is often a little skiff of snow or ice on the ground in the winter. My boys love these boots because they are not as clunky as bigger snow boots -- they can run, jump, and play in these all day.
