Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor Jacket - Men's:
Out of the box, I was impressed as with most anything Mountain Hardwear makes. Great backpacking jacket because it can deal with wet weather where a down jacket will lose its insulative value. It's light weight, compacts down nicely and looks good on the trail and at the pub, until you sit down. After looking at camping pics where I was sitting down, it appeared I had an alien pushing out of my stomach. A softball size alien is no joke and can make for a very bad day of taking pictures. Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor Jacket - Men's:
Jacket is very stylish and lighweight. Fits me perfect and I loved wearing it around town. My only complaint is that when I did take it up to the mountains it seemed to tear easily. It was plenty warm for a snowshoe hike but ripped easily on the occasional tree branch. Great jacket to wear around town, just be careful with in in the woods

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is amazing when used for its intended purpose. Its not a super tough durable jacket, but then again its not designed to wear while hiking through brush. It doesn't pack down extremely small, but it is really lightweight. I used it as a mid layer this winter under my REI Taku shell while skiing in Killington during one of the nastiest days i've ever skied in. With super windy conditions and near 0 temps, it kept me plenty warm (with only a mid weight performance base layer underneath).
What I really like about this jacket is that its incredibly warm, hooded, and yet I can wear it inside and not break a sweat. Its been my walk to class jacket for much of the winter, and more often then not I can wear it inside all day in the classroom and not be hot (it is a little chilly in our room but still, this thing breathes!)
I haven't used it with a climbing helmet yet so I can't comment on that, but for a quality synthetic insulated layer, it'd be hard to beat this. I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone serious about good outdoor gear!

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor Jacket - Men's:
The hooded compressor is one of the best jackets I've purchased. The newly updated design uses a slightly heavier denier fabric that is more durable than previous gens, but still super lightweight. The jacket is warmer than I expected and the fit is perfect for me. I use the jacket as an outer layer in the city and as a mid-layer or outer layer when outdoors. I couldn't be happier.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket after owning it's predecessor that ended up with a busted zipper. The previous design was longer, allowed for a helmet beneath the hood, adjustable cuffs, and was impressively durable. I waited for a year to write a review on the current model before judging it too quickly. However, after using this for nearly 8 months straight at 9200 ft in the mountains of Colorado, I would say this is a jacket more for the urbanite than someone who actually works and plays nearly everyday in the backcountry and snow. I understand MW's desire to go lighter, so they shaved weight by reducing the size of the hood and the length and then gave it a more lightweight fabric, but the result is a jacket that has not held up and the new "improvements" have been annoying. It has always been extremely warm and comfy, but it is not durable. I have so many snags in it and the cuffs are about to fall apart. My original Compressor lasted 2 years before the zipper began to jam and didn't even come close to showing the amount of wear as this jacket. So if you are good to your winter gear, then this jacket will perform, but if you actually use it the way it was designed, I would say think before you buy. Lighter materials are not always better.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hooded Compressor Jacket - Men's:
After trying out several other jackets similar to this one I settled on this model. It has a hood, a good zipper, sturdy construction, its very light and compressible. The hood is not big enough to fit over a ski helmet but it would fit over a climbing helmet. The pockets are in the right places and have nice warm linings. The chest pocket on the outside is just right. The color is way better that some of the other options out there (black, grey and black). Fit is slim and the arms are long enough for a 6'2" person of light build
Service and delivery comments:
Everything was fine.

Fantastic puffy jacket to stuff in your pack when the belays are a little cold, or to save your butt when it takes a little longer to get back to the car than you thought! It is warm, and VERY light, and fits me better than Mont Bell or Patagonia (I'm 5'8, 140).
