Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
I am a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines, and this is the best piece of clothing I've brought with me. I am 5'5", 115 lbs., and size 2 is a little loose but sits comfortably on my hips and is the appropriate length. It's not the most flattering, feminine cut, but, even when rolled up,the pants cover the necessary body parts on a female for conservative cultures outside of the US. Material and snaps are very durable. Pockets are deep, both in the front and back and can fit a lot. There is a small zippered pocket on the inside of the front right pocket, big enough to put money or other small valuables securely inside. It is NOT big enough for a passport, but the other four pockets are. There are snaps on the back pockets, but the pants are still comfortable when sitting. The thin, breathable material is great for hot weather -- sweat resistant, even in 90+ degree weather with 90%+ humidity, and it takes forever to get dirty, even when wearing multiple days in a row in a heavily polluted third world city. The only thing that I've found that dirties the material quickly, strangely, is chalk, and it must be washed with water to get it off. The material is ideal for handwashing and dries within an hour in sunlight, within a few hours outside of sunlight. The material never wrinkles and can be somewhat professional as well as casual. Folds very compact and is virtually weightless. Ideal for backpacking, traveling, camping, hiking or any outdoor activity in hot/humid climates.

Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
I bought a pair of these awesome pants in the Spring of 2011 and wore them all summer long. So, I came back this fall to buy some more. The pant I received was of such noticeably poorer quality I had to write. The material no longer has cotton in it (just nylon and spandex) which does not feel as soft; the waistband is 1/2 inch thinner and is no longer reinforced and the front pockets are sewn into the pants to make for less flexibility. Even the little point that makes it easier to thread the material used to keep the pants rolled up has been eliminated. I will keep them for the fit, but I just had to say, REALLY, REI ? Not the company I thought I was dealing with and may think twice about buying from again...

Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
These pants are absolutely amazing! I wear them almost everyday. I am very short (about 5'0) and these are the first pants I have owned that sit at my ankles perfectly. I also love them as capris. Perfect fit and absolutely comfortable.
However, I do recommend going to the store to try them on. I usually wear a 4 or 5 but I got an 8 in these. I'm not sure if that is because I have gained a few pounds, or if the sizing on these is a little off.
Overall, great pants.

Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
Bought these in both colors. I love how they fit at the waist and they have a slimming trouser look. I think these pants runs small, both size 4 petite and 6 petite fits but I went for the 6p because it was a little less tight in the waist.

Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
Took these with me for five weeks of bicycling in Spain. With gear/clothing at a minimum, these pants were a blessing: quick-drying, little wrinkling, could change into them after a day's cycling and look presentable.
Cons: the tabs used when wearing them rolled up are very hard to thread, also, if I kneel down when pants are rolled down the snaps hit me painfully in the knee-ow!
Overall, though, they are great pants--back home now and I still wear them a lot.

Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
Bought these a few weeks ago and wore them for 5 days this past week while camping/backpacking in Canyonlands, UT. Super light and comfortable, and very easy to maneuver in while climbing steep areas and trails while hiking. Material is slightly stretchy and aids in good range of motion. Never rolled them up while we were out on the trail, seemed to keep me cooler by keeping the sun off of my legs since the fabric is quite breathable. My only reason for not giving them 5 stars was I got the smallest of holes from scrambling down rocks (but it was a a good amount of sliding, and it is sandstone after all) I wish they would make the fabric just a little more beefy since these are for outdoor activity after all. They look quite a bit nicer then traditional zip off pants if you go into town, and for now, seems to repel stains quite well. Sizing is definatly on the small side. The next size up from my norm fit, but I went one more up - I like lots of room to move around in for hiking/backpacking.

Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
I had to go up a size from what I normally wear, but it wasn't a big problem since I went to a store and was able to try them on. If I ordered online I would have had to send them back.
I would like for there to be a few more pockets, but I specifically didn't buy the bulky-looking cargo pants... so I guess I can't fault the pants.
These are active-friendly pants that are also attractive enough to wear in public.

Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
I'm a beginner hiker and started in the summertime. These pants are lightweight and perfect for the warm weather of Southern California.
I am 5'1" and 105 lbs. I wear a size 2 petite that is a little loose, but that's how I like my pants. They sit well on the hips and have a modern cut to them, causing them to be very flattering. I enjoy them as both pants and as capris, although the pants are still a little too long, but that is always expected at my height. I first bought it in coal, but went back to get the chocolate chip color because I liked it so much.
One con would be that the loops are hard to thread when converting the pants to capris.

Comments about REI Poplar Roll-Up Pants - Women's Petite:
This is the first time that I've been able to find a pair of hiking pants where a 0P is actually small enough in both the waist and the inseam to (very nearly) fit my body. I love the slim fit! The only complaint that I have is that the snaps to fasten the pants when rolled up are uncomfortable when the pants are rolled down. Perhaps that mechanism could be reviewed in future. But please don't alter the fit! It's great, as a very small person, to be able to buy clothes that are a decent fit.

Love these pants great fit especially for a short woman and the fact that you can roll them up to convert to a capri gives me more bang for my buck.
