Comments about Merrell Mimosa Lace Shoes - Women's:
I also wonder if these are the same shoes as other reviewers have complained about. These were so comfortable right out of the box, with no stiffness in the heel at all. The dark gray color is great and the shoe is very slender and light, while still offering up plenty of room in the toe box.

I really like these shoes for everyday type wear.
The only thing I don't like is where it hits that funky knobby bone that protrudes at the ankle on the outside of both feet. It cuts in a bit, but thicker socks help. Its a common problem for me with other barefoot type Merrells. Too bad I like the fit of their shoes so much.

Comments about Merrell Mimosa Lace Shoes - Women's:
I am so disappointed in these. I actually had one of the fitters help me. They felt OK in the store. I started to break them in on our local bike path. The inside back of the heel has no cushioning. I had red marks and a bruise. I usually wear a size 8 or 8 1/2. I got the larger size. I have tried breaking them in. I have tried three kinds of socks. Last I installed one of those heel liner cushions--now they feel too small. I got them for a trip to Europe, so I would not be wearing footwear that screams American tourist-- they look so cute. I'll keep trying to break them in, but with the rubber on the outside of the back heel, I do not know if that is even possible. What I wish I could do is return them--they were pretty expensive, even with my REI discount. So I'll have to shop around for something that feels better.

Comments about Merrell Mimosa Lace Shoes - Women's:
I bought a pair of these shoes in my size and the edge around the heel cut into my ankle bones and really hurt my heels. I exchanged them for a half size bigger and put insoles in them to lift my feet more. This helped with the ankle part but over the course of a week and a half I developed a serious bruise on the back of my heels that still hurts nearly a month later. They are extremely stiff. I would not recommend these for a friend. They are the first pair of merrell's that have not been great shoes.

i thought it would not provide enough arch support compared to my hikers and was pleasantly surprised as i walked in town and in the woods. my feet felt fine.

Comments about Merrell Mimosa Lace Shoes - Women's:
Shoe fit is extremely comfortable with a generous toe box and a narrow heel and sufficient sole cushioning which is usually a problem for me. I have a long foot with high arches, narrow heel, and wide toe spread which is nicely accommodated with this shoe. It is a soft shoe so it conforms to ones foot, yet provides full support. I am at the narrowest lacing possible and have not experienced stretching that would require me to lace up any tighter.
I purchased these shoes as walking shoes that would involve uneven surfaces (cobble streets). They worked great for that purpose and beyond.
I used them on a boat with metal decks (good traction), and hiking a dusty/compacted very steep narrow trail, again, with excellent traction. My experience of excellent traction is not twisting my ankles and these shoes are below the ankle so I consider that excellent support inside and out.
I waded through mid calf water at times which was a bit cumbersome as the shoe is not designed to spill the water, rather, it captured it. It didn't take but a few steps to adjust to the extra weight and I was easily able to cross a couple of streams just by paying attention to where I was placing my feet in the stream bed.
They provided excellent traction on stone steps and granite boulders.
Really, I have only good experience wearing these shoes. They are extremely comfortable, maintain their shape even after being submerged in water. Once they were wet I removed the insole, opened up the laces and left them to dry for a couple of days. I experienced no smell, mildew, hardening/stiffness, or stretching.
Total fail without shoes! Yes, it really happened. I took my shoes off to go swimming and slipped on one of those boulders.
Since that slipping on the boulder has encumbered one of my arms the loops/tabs at the top of the tongue and at the heel (see image) are really a great feature in getting the shoes on.

Comments about Merrell Mimosa Lace Shoes - Women's:
These seemed to fit me great in the store and were super comfortable. But the first time I wore them out, the backs of my ankles were rubbed raw. The top of the back of the shoe is very stiff. I soaked the area in rubbing alcohol, stretched it out by hand, dried it with a hairdryer, and repeated several times as needed. This may not be good for the shoe, so be careful, but it did eventually work for me, and I can wear them just fine now.
I would recommend bringing some bandages the first time you wear these, in case they rub your ankles too.
Other than that, they're great shoes. Lightweight, very cute, but also practical if you're walking around a lot and they hold up in rain. I'm very tempted to get some more colors.

Love, love, love these shoes. I've never enjoyed hiking. When I finished, my hips hurt, my feet hurt, my back hurt. Purchased these shoes and paired them with Smart Wool socks for a group trip to Yosemite. Best purchase ever. We hiking for 7 hours the first day with NO issues. Another day we hiked to the top of the falls. Still NO issues. They're comfortable, true to size, broke in quickly. I have a high arch and small feet. Shoe shopping is usually a nightmare, but REI makes it easy and has small sizes on-line. Purchasing a second pair today.

Comments about Merrell Mimosa Lace Shoes - Women's:
I am perplexed about the negative reviews, makes me wonder if we have the same shoes. I found these shoes SO comfortable I wore them out of the store. I can't speak to durability yet, only had them a few weeks. I do wish the soles were somewhat thicker. Being as they were somewhat expensive, hopefully these thinner soles will be durable and long lasting. As for use, I am on my feet a lot and have found them very comfortable. Due to the thinner soles, I wouldn't recommend them for off-trail use, but they're great for all-around city walking. The black and gray with blue stitching are a very attractive color combination.
