The Redpoint Optimus jacket is a favorite among The North Face athletes. It's the pinnacle insulated jacket that's highly durable for a wide range of activities and conditions.

Designed with PrimaLoft® One insulation, this stellar synthetic material is extremely lightweight, warm and packable
Silky nylon shell sheds water with a light polyurethane water-repellent finish; seamless yoke and shoulders aid weather repellency
Polyester taffeta lining wicks moisture, dries quickly and slides easily over layers
Insulated, helmet-compatible hood with stretch binding and a peripheral adjustment provides good side-to-side visibility
Draft flap behind front zipper restricts cold air entry
Soft-shell cuffs and drawcord hem
Hand pockets and Napoleon chest pocket; jacket stows inside internal chest pocket

Walking a 1/2 mile in and out of work everyday is made simple, warm and dry with this coat. hood adjustment works great for keeping the wind and weather out of your face. Really love this coat!

I live in Albuquerque, NM and this is the perfect jacket for that climate. I've had this jacket for about two years now and I have never even thought about needing something a bit warmer...that is until I planned a snowboarding trip to Colorado. I was very worried about the colder temps but for not. I spent several hours in this jacket at 24 degrees with only a thin wool base layer on and it was great, in fact I was wishing it had pit zips at a few points. To be honest 10 degrees cooler and a nice fleece would be in order and remember this jacket is not water proof although it will keep you dry but the outer soft shell will absorb water. I love it, but know if it's gonna be really wet then you need a waterproof shell.

Probably the best jacket I have ever bought. I have only had a month so not tsted under all conditions but so far I have found it to keep me very warm but amazingly not too hot. It is very light and breathable, even when very cold out a long sleeve t shirt and this jacket is all I need. I bought a large which fits great but am normally an M. This combines all the benefits of layering a hard shell and fleece but is more flexible and warmer!

This jacket is amazing! Its light, very warm, comfortable, not bulky and looks great. It even stuffs into its own pocket to be more compact. I had this on for over an hour in 30deg and snow/sleet and wind with just a long sleeve T under and was completely dry and warm. It is surprisingly water resistant as well. The hood conforms to your head nicely with a draw string,and has the same Primaloft fill material, put it up for extra protection, fantastic. This has become my go to jacket, and I won't go to dinner in the City or hiking without it!

Bought this initially to stay warm in sub-zero Alaska temperatures for work. Was in -14F temps for several hours. Though I had a couple layers on, this jacket topped it off. The second I put the hood up, it was like being enveloped in warmth, didn't feel the cold at all.

Light and easy to pack was a big plus to this jacket.

This jacket feels like you're wearing your sleeping bag. I could not be happier with it. I'm 160 6'0" and I bought a medium. I tried on every medium in the store for a synthetic insulation jacket and this was the one that provided the length I desire. This is a fantastic jacket and you will not be disappointed. The zipper is a little tough to work with but thats the only downside here.

this is a great jacket. the best and warmest jacket i have actually. super warm, i usually just put on a t-shirt underneath this and it still keeps me warm. too warm actually, but in a good way. though if it does get a bit too cold, i recommend wearing something more than a plain old t-shirt. other than that, it's very cozy, i feel like i'm being snugged in a blanket when i wear this. very breathable too for it's puffiness. not to mention, although it's not waterproof, i've been under heavy rain (it's seattle, what do you expect?) and haven't been wet inside this so far. the rain just rolls off like beads and i almost feel invincible. i plan to go winter backpacking in this and see how it holds up. best of all, this jacket feels and looks great. i wear it casually to school and i love it. highly recommended
