I was finally ready to pick up a new snowboarding jacket and prefer North Face over a few of the other brands. This jacket was on sale and was part of the Summit Series. If you go to the North Face site and narrow the selection down by Snowboarding, Summit Series etc... this model comes up. Snowboarding is a high impact sport, between carrying the board around, having a backpack, getting on and off lifts etc... Whatever jacket you choose should last. I wore this jacket for 3 days and took it off. It managed to get soaking wet, be ripped in 3 separate spots just by carrying my board or moving and threads were coming out of it. I returned it the second I returned from Canada and picked up a Burton AK jacket and it's been perfect. Such a shame. I can't believe a [$] North Face could be so terribly made.

At 5'11" 180lbs I am normally between a large and medium. I bought this jacket in a Medium and its a bit bulky but I am sure thats just because it was meant more for snow sports as opposed to just being used as a shell for the unrelenting rain we get in Oregon. While I have only had this Jacket for a short time it has gotten lots of use in blustery conditions we have been experiencing. It totally cuts the wind and is VERY waterproof. A Napoleon pocket is a must have for me, and all of the other pockets are very useful including one on the left forearm that has a goggle wipe in it. While there are no underarm vents there are two access points in the front of the jacket in the upper chest area that allow you to access other jackets you maybe using to layer.
