Comments about The North Face Cornice Triclimate 3-in-1 Insulated Jacket - Men's:
What I like most about this jacket is its versatility. I also think it's a great value - providing a lot of terrific features for the price.
I am an expert cyclist, though at an intermediate level when it comes to skiing, hiking, snowshoeing.
I have worn this coat riding a cyclocross bike on roads and paths without the liner on a very cold and rainy/sleety morning, and it kept me warm and dry. It's windproof and in my experience completely water repellant, so it can work as a cold weather rain coat. And, though bulky for cycling, it's light and flexible enough for bad weather riding.
I haven't worn it skiing yet, though did wear it with the liner on a hike in twenty degree temps. It was great. I stayed warm and I didn't feel like the jacket was so bulky that it was holding me back. I'm thinking it will be a great downhill and nordic ski coat as well!
It seals well around the waist, to keep snow and bad weather out. The inner seal consists of an inch wide elastic band fasted by snaps around the waist when you need a tight seal, and the base of the entire coat can be tightened by pulling cords in the side pockets. The pocket design is also easy to use. The side pockets are big, and can be zipped with gloves on. The sleeve pocket is perfect for a pair of glasses, and has an integrated detachable microfiber lens cleaning cloth. There's a ski goggle pouch inside the left vest and another zipped pocket (perfect for a cell phone and wallet) inside the right vest of the coat. The hood attaches via a short zipper at the back of the neck and enclosed velcro at the ends, and is easily snugged with elastic pulls that can be cinched on either side of the collar. The flap over the main zipper of the coat seals tight from top to bottom by five velcro sections, but you can still open the coat if you want to without removing your gloves.
It's a warm coat, though I'm thinking not a sub-zero coat by itself, at least not for me. For someone like me who loves very hot weather and who does not at all like being cold - but who loves being outside in all seasons - my view is that by itself with liner installed this is a great coat for temps in the teens or higher. With the right base layers, given this coat's solid weather resistant design, it could be a comfortable coat in any weather.
I gave it 5 stars because of value and versatile design. It is definitely bulkier than some dedicated winter sports coats, but most of those coats cost twice as much. If you want to buy only one coat for winter living and winter sports, this is a solid choice. The quality of construction and materials used are first class. I'm thinking that it will serve me well for several years.

Comments about The North Face Cornice Triclimate 3-in-1 Insulated Jacket - Men's:
I got this jacket last weekend and chose it because of the price and quality. I tried on some other 3 in 1 jackets and they were all heavier to wear. The inner jacket is a bit short on the torso which is why I would give it a 4 out of 5. The shell will be a perfect rain jacket with the zip on hood. If you were to go hiking with only the shell it would breath well but if you were going on longer hikes you may want to buy a jacket that has the zippers to breath underneath the arms. Overall I like the jacket, I typically wear large clothing but got a medium jacket. I like the snug fit. I'm 6' 190 lbs and work out, size 42 chest.

Comments about The North Face Cornice Triclimate 3-in-1 Insulated Jacket - Men's:
Every day use for work and play very light weight and comfortable lots of pockets in shell but they are not acessable when liner is in place, needs more pockets in liner. I don't use liner anyway because it is too warm for me.

Comments about The North Face Cornice Triclimate 3-in-1 Insulated Jacket - Men's:
Seriously, buying this jacket allowed me to 1)upgrade my rain jacket, 2) upgrade my fleece jacket, and 3) provided me with a great jacket for the coldest conditions that I'll face. Too bad it has been unseasonably warm this winter. Even between Christmas and New Years in the Big Bend NP all we got for five nights was the mid to low 40s. What's with that?
I also like that it is red, the color of my alma mater and favorite sports team. Go Rockets!

Comments about The North Face Cornice Triclimate 3-in-1 Insulated Jacket - Men's:
Bought this jacket for a ski trip to Italy. The first day we had a lot of wet snow in the morning and this kept me dry and warm. With the lining in (you can zip it out) I skied with just a base layer under it and was very comfortable.
Sleek enough that I wear it around the city on cold days too.
